Why didn't you ask for it to be switch off?

It wasn't loud, and someone could have come in who wanted it.
We were in there perhaps 40mins. As far as I know, it was still the first half.

No I won't be out.
I'll hear the news tomorrow morning as is my normal routine. They'll tell me.
TBH, I'll be happy to hear the result, but not interested in the slightest about watching the game.

My own world cup anecdote is that when Ken W was uttering the famous "They think it's all over... " I was driving around Bradford in an ice cream van trying to drum up business.

Beyond that, how many ways are there of saying "I'm not interested" and FWIW, who cares?

I remember as a kid seeing England go out of a competition wanting the team to beat them to go on to win. My childish thinking was that if the team that beat them (closer the score the better, such as winning by one penalty) won then England would possibly have also beaten their opposition of they'd just hit through.

Kind of team X only just beat us but beat the next team they met by two goals. So we'd have beaten them by one possibly two goals.

I was very young and was really more into statistics if football than football itself.

So with the last vestiges of that childhood thought process still around, I hope Croatia beat France. Besides we're over there in a few weeks (France) so not sure I want them to still be hyper over the win.

England had Croatia at their mercy but they missed numerous scoring chances-it should have been 3-0 at half-time.It was a poor game.The Croatian goal should be invalid as the player raised their foot almost maiming the English defender.It was gripping but if you watch Brazil 1970 or Argentina 1978 or 1986,you will see players like Pele,Kempes,Maradonna,Rivelino, and see some class act.

from which we conclude that it is OK to kick someone in the head provided you score a goal while you are at it...?

True. I also cant deny England did well to get to the semi finals. Not exactly an easy thing to do. Half the world tried, only 4 made it.
