It is so hot today, that I've had to come inside and open a bottle of beer.

I was out riding this morning at 05:30 to avoid the heat.
30miles and then back for breakfast.

It's so hot today I saw a lurcher chasing a hare and they were both walking.

The problem is that in this heat it gets really cold - and I mean cold enough to make it very unpleasant. In our local co-op, the air conditioning was turned up high enough to make one grab what one needed and get out quick - hardly a recipe for increasing sales. Cornwall is probably the most naturally air-conditioned place on earth: even now it's struggling to get above 25 deg. I'm afraid my estimation of my fellow man falls drastically when the air-conditioning in Cornwall is turned on. It must be one of modern man's greatest follies.

PS I'm writing this with the window open and sitting in a cool breeze. Time to get out in the sun and warm up.

What happens if the air-con on the train breaks down if the train gets stuck in a tunnel or on a viaduct?

I was out for a ride today (trying & failing to find the LEJOG Wimps - see this topic). I'm really enjoying the hot weather (apart from the occasional slight wafts of smokiness from the fires on Winter Hill).

My Garmin was saying 38C after it had been parked in the sun around midday while I stopped for ice cream after c.32 miles (Frederick's Ice Cream on the A6 just south of Chorley - highly recommended if you are in the area), real temperature was probably around 26-28C.

Not in this part of Cornwall.
It's been between 28 and 31 here over the past week. No doubt it'll be the same today. It's 22 out there now, and it's not even 9am.
