I tried to cover that with "Throw in the trend towards nationalism and the closing of borders and it'll make any future issues with regards diminishing resources, particularly oil and gas difficult to resolve peacefully." but I was aware that I was already in TLDR territory...
FWIW, I don't necessarily think things could be that bad, in theory its not beyond the wit of man to fix stuff the difficulty is in convincing them it needs fixing or that there's any point fixing it.
There are great strides being made in genetics, AI, clean energy etc etc all of which could remove some of the pressures we're fast approaching. With some political will golden times could be ahead...
