Hi all, When I see the term Gender Inequality I very weirdly think - When are they going to sell "Men's Sanitary Towels"?

I don't think it's either. Just a simple re-branding, that's all. The expression 'man-size' or 'man-sized' is, or at least has been, in common parlance to denote something a bit larger than the median. But it has probably become a bit passé in recent years. So - does it really matter if the makers want a re-brand?

One re-branding of a common product, a few years ago, which did irk me, was when "Jif" (the household cleaner) became "Cif". No matter what it's labelled on the supermarket shelf, I refuse categorically to refer to it as "Cif". In my student days fear of the "syph" was rife amongst my generation. Anyway, we generally buy the Tesco's own-brand, which is half the price and does the job just as well...

Surely it's a hard "C" as in Kif.
Perhaps yours is now Tif.

Any publicity is good publicity.

The manufacturers are getting plenty of it free in discussions like this but when I first saw something about this, I misunderstood and thought some women were upset at having to ask for "Outsize" which I think is the new name.

So, when is Radio 4's Woman's Hour going to be re-named?

Buy whatever sized tissues you want, does the name of the size matter? If the company wants to re-brand does it matter? Does the fact the original name had man in it and they gave in to complaints over that really matter?
