Windows 10 Defender now can run in a sandbox

Post by mercalia »

It works for WIndows version 1703 and above
read here

https://cloudblogs.microsoft.com/microsoftsecure/2018/10/26/windows-defender-antivirus-can-now-run-in-a-sandbox/

how to set it up - set up a admin priviledge command.com window and type/paste in it

setx /m mp_force_use_sandbox 1

then reboot without powering down

you need to download process explorer from Microsoft to see that it is setup

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/downloads/process-explorer

and look for msmpeng.exe with subkey msmpengcp.exe

Windows Defender is a really good antivirus/malware software that is free included with Windows 10, no need to use Avast or others these days

If you spell "privilege" like that you probably won't get past step 1.

Yep a bit like a Cobol programmer who can't spell environment correctly.
