Apparently Mr Corbyn may have called Mrs May a 'stupid woman' in Parliament today.

I'm warming to the man.

Scotch Whisky for instance.
In Bradford there's a street called "Scotchman Road". I used to live quite near there, years ago.

I wondered whether it ever had its name changed in the intervening years, seeing as the word is a little bit un-PC nowadays. But it's still there.
Suppose that this room is a lift. The support breaks and down we go with ever-increasing velocity.

I thought it might be on a steep hill, but it isn't (i.e. scotchman to put scotches behind the coach wheels). There is - or used to be - a pub called The Scotchman and his Pack on the very steep St Michael's Hill in Bristol.

Like Cam said he is doing all this on his own by staying, no need for Tories' to do anything, a bad day for politics every day he stays there.

Reminds me of the line "We have scotch'd the snake, not killed it". Which, oddly enough, comes from - ahem - "The Scottish Play".... :lol:

I didn't know this quote. Can't have been paying attention in that particular class.

I didn't pay much attention either, in English lessons at school... :oops: But here you are: isn't Google wonderful!
Shakespeare wrote:LADY MACBETH
Nought's had, all's spent,
Where our desire is got without content:
'Tis safer to be that which we destroy
Than by destruction dwell in doubtful joy.
Enter MACBETH
How now, my lord! why do you keep alone,
Of sorriest fancies your companions making,
Using those thoughts which should indeed have died
With them they think on? Things without all remedy
Should be without regard: what's done is done.

MACBETH
We have scotch'd the snake, not kill'd it:
She'll close and be herself, whilst our poor malice
Remains in danger of her former tooth.
But let the frame of things disjoint, both the
worlds suffer,
Ere we will eat our meal in fear and sleep
In the affliction of these terrible dreams
That shake us nightly: better be with the dead,
Whom we, to gain our peace, have sent to peace,
Than on the torture of the mind to lie
In restless ecstasy. Duncan is in his grave;
After life's fitful fever he sleeps well;
Treason has done his worst: nor steel, nor poison,
Malice domestic, foreign levy, nothing,
Can touch him further.
