Mystery cards
Mystery cards
For the last few years a Christmas card appears addressed to my wife and myself from Lexy. Trouble is I have no idea who Lexy is and there is no clue on the card or envelope. No family members have heard of her and she is not a college or work friend of my late wife. Nothing in any address books either. Once her daughter wrote the card due to some hand injury but still no clue.
I doubt I will ever find out.
I doubt I will ever find out.
Re: Mystery cards
We get one of those every year. It's from Dave & Sue. We've had various club mates & colleagues over the years called Dave or Sue, but none of the Sues were married to Dave, and none of the Daves were married to Sue. So, unless someone had been divorced and remarried or something, we can't recall anyone we know or are related to who are Dave and Sue. They don't put a return address or surname on the card, so we can't write back to them, or look them up.

Thats Lexy Cogrifer.
She just likes putting words together.
The older I get the more I’m inclined to act my shoe size, not my age.

Is the postmark legible? What could Lexy be short for?
Entertainer, juvenile, curmudgeon, PoB, 30120

'Tis an automaton.

Re: Mystery cards
There was one neighbour called Lexy but she died about 4 years ago. Good trick to send cards from the beyond. Postmarks are meaningless nowadays. “Glasgow Mail Centre “ covers most of Scotland I think. Any mail I send is postmarked as GMC and I live about 120 miles from the place.
Re: Mystery cards
If your wife is addressed before you the chances are that the connection was with your wife rather than the two of you as a couple.
A bike does more miles to the banana than a Porsche.
Re: Mystery cards
That is true bogmyrtle but I do not remember anybody of that name and her address book yields no clue. She would have spoken about people she knew and I certainly remember most of them.
Re: Mystery cards
When I was in my 30s, I got a card every year from someone I thought was signing the card as 'Will'. I knew some Williams, but they mostly went by Bill or William, so it was a bit of mystery.
When someone asked for my new address after I had moved so she could send me a Christmas card, I figured out that it was from the Walls, some extended family members on my mum's side. I only ever saw them once every few years, at weddings & funerals and the like. It had never occurred to me that they sent me Christmas cards every year.
