Why move twigs and branches when walking in the woods?

The track is used by cyclists too, I walk it often but rarely cycle there, often dogs drag sticks about then abandon them, their owners leave bits of wood up to the size of small branches on the track, I kick them (twigs, sticks), into the undergrowth

The other day I was cycling down the road when a person loitering by the pedestrian crossing pressed the button but made no attempt to cross. Naturally I stopped and waited until the light changed to green. It was cold and wet and I developed a bad cold.
The following day I was cycling down a different road and a cyclist passing the pedestrian crossing pressed the button as they passed by. Naturally I stopped and waited until the light changed to green. It was cold and wet and my bad cold developed into influenza.
The day after that I was cycling down another road (I think you can guess where I'm going ) when a group of people loitering by the pedestrian crossing pressed the buttons but made no attempt to cross. It was cold and wet (it always is ) and my influenza developed into pneumonia.
Tomorrow my hearse driver has been instructed not to stop.

Reminds me, somehow, of the tale of Augustus in Struwwelpeter - the little boy who refused his soup five days in a row, and on the fifth day had starved to death.

You don't catch cold - let alone flu - from being held up for a few seconds in the rain. Mind you, if you already have an infection, it could be aggravated.

Never mind - point made, however 'sick'....

You don't need to seek help. But you do need to listen to reason.

Almost no-one condones your stated actions in needlessly holding up traffic. And I don't think your plan will help to make the roads 'safer' one iota. So why not just bow down gracefully and accept that your idea is a non-starter? (and I don't mean that literally...)

It seems at least one of our number fails to understand such a simple concept

More stop-start traffic = driving becomes less attractive, the idiots park in the suburbs (free), save time, fuel, energy, and enjoy a short walk

However, since this button is of no use whatsoever in reducing car numbers or their predations, it begs the question: what can we as individuals do to combat the evil effects of the filthy things - besides driving out own filthy thing less or getting rid of it altogether?

One thing has already been done. A vote for leaving the EU! This will surely reduce car use as one of many, many features, effects and consequences of the impending economic downturn. Mind, for every pedestrian no longer run over by a Toad roaring about on his mission, there will be N others dying of malnutrition or even riot! Every silver-lined cloud has a great big stormy bit in the middle.
