He seems to prefer his bikes set up like that.

I was actually referring to Boris, but I guess you knew that!
Why do Boris and Jeremy need helmets?

Could it be that they need protection from head injuries generally?

Well, I think that they don't need helmets, but maybe they think they do. Or perhaps they have had a taste of the publicity that comes when they leave the plastic at home, and feel they can do without that sort of distraction.

Astounded that they would ride a bike in a suit, but without mudguards!
(and why no dynolights?)
If I had a baby elephant, I would put it on a recumbent trike so that it would become invisible.

I'm pretty sure there have been photos of Boris without a lid.

A recent one was taken outside a restaurant of an evening. So perhaps he gets more "dressed up" for work journeys? (or wanted to look more dynamic and risk-taking for his very-much-younger fiancée)

Did he not catch some flak for that?

Maybe he does not really feel the need for one, but panders to Daily Mail readers.

Boris may have many faults, but I really don't believe he gives a <moderated> about Daily Mail readers' opinions!

Not for plebs. They tell you to lock bikes up on the street in Millbank but I wouldn't put bets on them being there on your return. The Westminster Q-Park has free bicycle parking under CCTV.

Does JoJo cycle?
Could be that BoJo soon has less time for cycling :(
