Any one else finding their advert where a plonker enters what appears to be an 8 digit number to retrieve a 4 digit PIN ever so slightly annoying.

One trouble with cryptic thread titles is that they leave you guessing what the thread's about. Kenneth Williams popularised the rhyming slang.

It's the card number he's entering. The system AIUI is you have a barclays card and have set it up to have this pin reminder. You then use their app and enter the card number to get your pin. You aren't remembering an 8 digit number to get your 4 digit pin. That number is on your card that you're about to use.

How secure is it? Can you trust it?

Can't you use a rfid scanner to get card details and clone it. Then if it buy card details that have been hacked online through dark Web pages. With luck it could get a card number and use pin app to get a fully functioning card to buy anything you wanted. Or something like that. Certainly with a lot of luck that you find the card details for the card you've scanned. Being able to use the right pin number could open up the card to the card limits. Possibly more than other means??

Probably as safe as anything else

I find all adverts annoying - patronising, sly lies trying to get me to give them my good money for their dross! When I'm Richard the Spud, advertmen will all be placed in an uncomfortable place then lied to every hour about getting released, until they acquire an avid desire and liking for the truth. Yes.

Generally I avoid the advert, with advert blocker and a never-watch of TV except via the filter of the computer recordings of a very few things. The only commercial station programme I can recall having watched in the last year is a clutch of "Endeavours" which although stuffed to the gunnel with advert can be cleansed of same via the remote whizzer set to max at advert time. Silenced advert manikins made to jerk about with the whizzer are amusing and entirely deflate the advert hypnosis effects.

I have no idea what this thread is about.

Is it about forgetting your PIN for your card and how Barclays sort it out for you?

Why not go into the bank and speak to them?

You don't watch telly so you are spared the adverts. Be thankful.
