PotUS from 2021: Buttigieg, Bernie, Warren, Trump?

Postby brynpoeth » 30 Jun 2019, 8:47am

Surprised this has not been mentioned here much, the Grauniad has a lot about the primaries, elections before the elections
Who might be the next PotUS, who is your favourite?
I really favor a female, Harris is good apparently, with AOC for environment minister
Mind, the sitting PotUS often has an advantage, seems a queer business, 20 demock-rats fight amongst themselves for the chance to challenge the not-democrat
Maybe a dark horse shall sneak up on the inside

The USA needs Bernie Sanders like it needs air to breath.

'Get my tanks on my lawn!' called the Commander-in-chief, reported the Grauniad
The PotUS is in focus today

Biden is doing well apparently, but he was vice president eight years, one should have thought he might want to enjoy his retirement, or is the Will to Serve so strong?

An expert of the Center for American Progress suggests Warren may sneak by through the middle, or rather the left

I believe that you can serve more than two terms, just not consecutively. Mind you, Trump appears to be unraveling before our eyes. He was a complete irrelevance at G7.

I do (not) believe it, the Grauniad asks whether Clinton might try yet again to run for PotUS
Asking costs nothing

As you know, Trump is to enclose and privatise the sale of the air of Yankland. Any foreign country found using it for free when it blows over, say, The Atlantic, will be subject to a trade war! Meanwhile, the many undeserving poor of Yankland (especially the ones that aren't pink-orange) will just have to gasp and "go away", the losers!

My guess (let's not pretend it's a prediction) is that Trump will implode but something worse will emerge from the gerrymandering, vote-suppressing, brainwashing Repugnicans. It'll be much, much worse - employing all the tricks Trump let out of his Pandora box .... but not nearly as stupid as the Great Orange Buffoon.

He is also a good woodworker, does Good Works and isn't mad like all them other Prezzies. Why! He don't even do braggadocio and ushers ladies through the doweh first.

It’s all too hard to predict with much certainty. As I see it the USA isn’t quite ready for a woman to be the President and I’m amazed that a man of colour managed to get elected. Obama came from nowhere and hence escaped the political trashing the Republications heap on Democratic front runners, Clinton should have got elected but her high visibility over a long time helped Trump and the Democrats to successfully trash her. IME Bernie Saunders is too left wing and too old to get elected by the American people.

Trump has an enormous command of media management skills and as an incumbent President he’s got a lot of electoral advantages. I don’t support the man and hope that someone else gets elected but it’s wishful thinking to imagine that he definitely won’t get two terms.

Hilary Clinton was great on the Graham Norton show (with Chelsea and some brits).

I was pleased to hear her not *completely* rule out running again. WIth a big smile ...
