Yes they are still around.

Also there are also tariffs (Octopus has one) with hourly variable rates. Sometimes they go negative at night (usually when it is windy) so they are actually paying you to use the electricity - presumably the rate is lower than they would have to pay the wind farms to stop their turbines (yes, all the power producers, of whatever ilk, get paid to not generate power when it isn't needed!)
