Anyone know of lake district campsites that tend to still have places this close to a bank holiday? My usual such site is full. They are first come first served but it seems they've started booking or are full already.
Thinking of Chapel House Farm near Grange. Anyone stay there?
Any last minute Lake District campsites?

You'll be lucky getting a campsite in the Lakes this close to a bank holiday with a weather forecast like we've got.

In similar circumstances a few years ago we went to Dent instead of Lakes, there's a lovely very very basic campsite which is never full

Are you mad! Who would want to be in the lakes on a bank holiday?
I can recommend Fell View we were there earlier this year some nice walking and cycling on the doorstep.

A few years ago, we'd booked our usual small B&B just outside Ambleside but I wanted some new guide books.
I called in to the TIC, where people were being offered Carlisle as the nearest available accommodation over the Bank Holiday.
We've since discovered the Eden Valley area, which is gorgeous.

There's a large camping field at the farm behind the pub at Hesket Newmarket. Limited facilities (a single loo / washbasin) and you can't book, but only a fiver (if you can find someone to pay) and a great drinking hole on you doorstep.
