Somehow he has used his deep psychological flaws to tickle the underbelly of the American psyche. A sort of folie a deux.

He adheres to the philosophy that Truth is a Social Construct, there are no such things as Facts. properly speaking. The more people who agree with him the more true are his views.

In my experience Trump is akin to many Americans, who are often full of braggadocio, a barely suppressed inclination to use extreme violence to "solve" even the smallest problem, an intense intolerance of those not like themselves, an inclination to turn every aspect of life into a winner-loser contest, a ......

Consider the cultural artefacts that emerge from the USA to impinge upon their Anglo-Saxon forbears here in Blighty. Many of those artefacts are corrosive, toxic and otherwise inimical to a civilised lifestyle. Films full of violence, crushed "losers" and mad lust for money by any means. Criminality, especially of the violent-male ilk, is revered.

What's surprising is that a Trump hasn't arisen before now. There have been several fairly close but none as toxic to the degree that Trump has been. And he emboldens not only his swathes of outright white supremacist, racist and misogynist supporters but also great swathes of the disaffected American dreamers who have had nothing but a nightmare of late, in terms of their ever-descending socio-economic status and lack of well-being.

The man is dangerous. He attracts and enables many who are far more dangerous than he is, such as Pence and Bolton. The whole world is going to regret his ascendancy, in a very direct and physical way, before he's finished. He's already given his mental disease to Bojo & Co. He's a plague carrier too.

If you were to think of the worst atributes in mankind you'll find them all in Donald Trump, the man is a walking toxin far worse than any cancer.

I feel the same is happening is the UK. On Newsnight the other day there was some Conservative MP who was listening to nobody just spouting the current releases from CCHQ about "Corbyn being scared". I'm getting rather insulted by all these Conservative MPs and representatives who are spouting the same garbage which is clearly completely untrue on the basis that if repeated often enough people will start to believe.

I hold Corbyn in pretty low regard and it is him (and strategic voting) that stop me voting Labour. But it's blindingly obvious that Corbyn is NOT scared of an election but rather needs to wait a few weeks to ensure No-Deal is blocked and then I'm sure he'll 1st in the queue demanding an election. So the Conservatives repeating their complete tripe is really holding the population in complete contempt, treating them as imbeciles.

Johnson is doing pretty much the same as Trump e.g. Kippergate, £350m a week, deal negotiations, etc.. I'm now beginning to question if he is suffering some of the same flaws as Trump. Johnson never admits he's lied nor apologies (e.g. even when the Governmnet Head Statistician says he's wrong, Johnson just ignores it and continues with the same lie).

Reports last week about a big spike in violence against muslims in UK after Johnsons "letterbox" comments yet all he does is to start to talk about what a good article it was supporting freedom of dress - yet is caused a big spike in violence against muslims to was clearly inappropriate.
https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2019/sep/02/boris-johnsons-burqa-comments-led-to-surge-in-anti-muslim-attacks wrote:Boris Johnson’s burqa comments ‘led to surge in anti-Muslim attacks’
...
In the week following that article, Tell Mama said anti-Muslim incidents increased by 375% – from eight incidents the previous week, to 38 in the following.

I appreciate this thread is about Trump but I'm beginning to feel UK is suffering the same issues and challenges and we seem to have two parallel threads running as this thread has diverged to discuss Trump's character.

It's not just bolsanaro, trump and bojo. Anyone remember Gove making a comment about not trusting experts? It's all part if the same drive to the bottom levels of society.

There's another forum with a great big Brexit thread. On it is the classic example of Trump and BoJo's target audience. Only he's (assumption he's Male) educated because of his writing but he's dumb as f when it comes to seeing their flaws. I don't think we have anyone like that on here. 100% certain we don't!

I've always believed he has the same charachter flaws as Trump, they're peas in a pod.BoJo is just the UK version, not quiiite as brash, not quiiiite as openly xenaphopic and racist(both tailored to UK taste) but equal in every way under the public schoolboy image.
Thoroughly despicable charachters in every way, both toxic, both evil.

It's interesting how all these politicians who seem to detached from the truth also try to quash objecting voices. Just like Bolsonaro sacked his head of space science when the data showed the rise in Amazon forest clearance, just as Johnson closes down Parliament, yesterday Trump
https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/trump-noaa-hurricane-dorian-alabama-white-house-wilbur-ross-a9098426.html wrote:Wilbur Ross, the US secretary of commerce, threatened to fire top employees at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration after the agency’s Birmingham, Alabama office contradicted Donald Trump's tweet claiming that Hurricane Dorian would likely hit Alabama, according to a report from The New York Times.

Mr Ross's [Trump's Man] threat led to the release of an unsigned letter from NOAA disavowing not only the Birmingham tweet, but the organisation's own knowledge of the storm, in favour of the president's false claim.

Again - support my madness or lose your job.

I think the denying it afterward as just people trying to keep their jobs after having publicly told the people of Alabama the real weather forecast.

Trump is creating an American civil service shaped to his tastes. That'll take a while to clear out . It's not the presidential nominees but the people they took on and down the line that will take some work to sort out I reckon.

How apposite. Having lived there for 7 years, I'd like to think I can agree based on real experience. But we should then consider the West and North east Coasts, which are quite different. The republic of California is certainly very different to, well, err...anywhere else.

It's a take over of the reletively sane by the insanity of populism, look strong and promise the moon on a stick to the unthinking masses, whilst rifling throught their pockets the economy and the environment, profiting in the bargain and blaimjng anyonone who comes to mind, foreigners, people of colour, disabled, and the undeserving poor.
It's a shame for them that they can't blaim the Jews but that's been done to death(sorry)already, though they'll attempt to blaim that on the left as they attempt to demonise any form of socialism, labelling it communism whilst pointing the finger at Russia,Venezala and North Korea as the prime examples to what we'll all become,if we even think along those lines.....

On Saturday evening I watched the programme about George Soros. There were many chilling things in it, but perhaps the most chilling was of a torchlit procession in Charlottesville the night before a car was driven into the counterdemonstrators.
The chant was "Jews will not replace us."
Much of the anti Soros propaganda was anti-Semitic.

Trump said that there are good people on both sides.

I'm aware of the overt antisemitism in some quarters of the US,I was meaning the antisemitism levelled at the Labour party.
