'Poacher turned Gamekeeper' but I remained the poacher.

It's quite a bold move to eschew Oxbridge graduates, and a welcome one. It's about time skills for government are recognised not just from academic backgrounds.

Ah, I see the job has already been taken. By an even weirder wierdo.

When I heard this I thought that I fitted the job description, and should apply. Then I realised that I am not the sort of misfit and wierdo Cummings means.

Quite, but a move away from sourcing a high percentage of staff from that source has got to be a good one. People with real life experience and insight into how the world actually works and not just book learned theory.

No problem at all. Just not led by this idiot upstart. And I:m not sure how misfits and upstarts will run the system. And it seems that Cummings and Johnson want political appointees.

Thanks.
He's gone up a little in my estimations; shows a good knowledge of William Gibson novels (and one of his better ones, to boot!)

I see Boris is still hiding under a rock /in a fridge. Sending out dimwitted lackeys to break the bad news. Government not so much by proxy, but from a remote site. Interesting, what's going on?

Former 'red wall' areas could lose millions in council funding review

£300m a year set be redirected from deprived areas to shire councils, analysis shows

Hampshire would be the biggest winner, gaining £35m a year, followed by Surrey county council (£25m), which is home to 11 Conservative MPs including the cabinet members Dominic Raab and Michael Gove. Big losers include Birmingham, which would lose more than £48m.

Her estimate of his honesty is absolutely consistent with many other sources.
When a politician says something which is likely to advance their career not at all, it becomes more credible.

The green guff Johnson was spouting today, making promises about a future when he is not going to be in government, and so even less likely to be held to, is plainly the utmost Boris flannel.
