Border collies are lovely dogs but if you get a nervous one they'll chew off the skirting boards to get out.

There's a howling bitter icy cold wind outside -- didn't want to get out of bed on my day off -- almost glad the wife wants me to help her with the housework !

Our collie loves to be outside regardless of the weather. She spent 2 hours yesterday evening burying a bone somewhere in the garden. Her coat is amazing.

Had to pop into town (in the car) this morning and bitterly cold down here with temperature hovering around freezing point and blowing a hooley.
The ice on the pond is now over 15mm thick.

Thankful we're not up in Braemar at minus 17 though.

We've got a terrible damp problem in the bathroom.

Seriously, though, this a rockface on the Devon bank of the River Tamar just north of the Gunnislake bridge. Just got back from a doggie walk.

Cold and draughty, and ice about. 2degC.

Was going to take the brown bin down the lane but with the lid frozen shut I thought the wee recycle bags of waste food gathered up over some weeks will be frozen to the bottom of the bin so there's little point.

Blowing an absolute hooligan of a SE gale out there.
Very cold and very unpleasant.

Indeed, it’s audible in the house which is saying something. I ventured out to the hardware shop at the end of the road and I’m glad it wasn’t any further. I’ve not known windchill that bad for well over twenty years. My walk home in the blizzard the other day was like a holiday in the Seychelles in comparison.
The older I get the more I’m inclined to act my shoe size, not my age.

Just been out in the garden with the dog for his call of nature.
Seems like the wind is changed and coming from the SW now.
Living down in the Cornish side of the valley, the westerlies go over the top.

The weather forecasts say the SE winds are still here, but when I was out, I definitely saw the clouds coming from the SW.
Too dark now to see, but the wind noise out there has gone.

Too cold..however next week and the immediate thereafter looks absolutely tropical for Dorset.

Actually stuck a heater in the garage tonight just to get on the turbo.

At or below freezing all day, but sunny and dry in West Lanc's, any wet bits of untreated road remained frozen all day.
This stretch of Hillock Lane/Lees Lane was inch thick sheet ice and slush (from water off the land I think), the salt bin was full but
unused strangely (at the foot of a steep hill). Parbold hill in the background.

Meanwhile at the top of Parbold Hill you could pay for your slush at the ice-cream van, it was doing a steady trade, even more strangely.

OK with the studs on the tyres going down on the ice in the morning, but it felt safer using the bike as a rolling walking stick going back up in the afternoon. I'm quite often reduced to pushing this bit anyway, a dismount on the ice might have proven to be problematic.
Nice day for a ride though.

just been outside (scottish borders) and as I went into the garage I could feel hands slightly sticking to the metal handle - had a look at the thermometer and it is -12°C (proper measurement in a stvenson box sort of thing) way lower than the forcast of -7

Freezing awful windchill has been replaced with stormy windy wet heavy rain.
8degC when I last looked, but tomorrow, though still windy, is forecast to be fine and ever so slightly milder.

Off on a ride tomorrow morning .................... fingers tightly crossed.
