Yes, I remember many an hour reading “Green Eggs and Ham” to my children. They loved it.

Especially the tongue twisters in the series.

Lucky to have nice eggs on your doorstep.
I still remember one we told our kids from those books
Maybe not a 100% right but from memory

We have two ducks one blue one black

When our blue duck goes Quack Quack

Our black duck quickly Quack Quacks back

Blue duck thinks she's quite a quacker

But black is a quicker quacker backer

Sunny with wall-to-wall blue skies, but tatters.
Just remember, when you’re over the hill, you begin to pick up speed.

Many years ago I could always claim that the Cheviots had some snow on them until May. For a couple of decades that has not been the case. Until this year.

PS just been over to Kelso to the podiatrist. Fresh snow on Cheviot.

3 degrees & rain mixed with snow here this morning
It was 15 degrees and sunny at the weekend & I almost planted some seeds. Just as well that I didn't.

There is still snow on the hills around here. It often lingers well into April, but I don't think I've seen it in May before. In the mountains, there is snow year round, but not near me.

Glorious out there this morning.
Fresh cool breeze, damp air with the sweet smell of vegetation, grass trees, flowers. The rain showers over the last couple of days have washed away the dry acrid dusty desiccation.

Mrs Mick F has to be out driving later, and me and the dog are going to hitch a lift so she can drop us off right at the top of Hingston Down, and we'll walk home .................... via the pub!

Done it.
Excellent walk, and to be honest, I was overdressed. No showers, and sort of nice sunshine.
Sat outside in the pub garden chatting to regulars.

Route.
I took my Garmin Edge20 on a wrist strap ................ because I knew I'd be on here posting about it! :D
Away from the small carpark out on the downs near Hingston Down mine and south of the quarry, then across the heathland and down the zig-zag of Crow Lane then down through the lanes and footpaths to go along Calstock Rd to the Rising Sun.
Just under 3miles start to the pub, and that's where I stopped the Garmin recording.
Maybe half a mile or so back home from there.

Snow on the Glenshane Pass here in norn iron

I remember similar chilly conditions camping near Malham over the May Day bank holiday in the late '90s, think it was '97.

About ten minutes after I hung out the washing the snow began but I held my nerve and left it out. The snow soon stopped, and the washing dried.

Perhaps it came way out West?
Snowdon and the Glyders are quite white above 900 meters this morning.

The contrasting spring colours are extraordinary.
The variable colours of the Oak in particular, from almost red, through Olive to vivid green make the place a wonderland.
