Is anyone moving?
Is anyone moving?
Given recent referendum and general election results in the UK and possible future ones, is anyone considering moving? Maybe to Scotland to be just ahead of the rush, or further afield?

Far better than here with you lot moaning on the internet.
If I want moans, I can have a few beers with moaners face-to-face.

I didn't think you had any "remainers" down your way.
Note the auto correct thingy is changing my re moaners to remainers. I've double-checked and remainers is not what I posted.
At the last count:- Peugeot 531 pro, Dawes Discovery Tandem, Dawes Kingpin X3, Raleigh 20 stowaway X2, 1965 Moulton deluxe, Falcon K2 MTB dropped bar tourer, Rudge Bi frame folder, Longstaff trike conversion on a Giant XTC 840
i thought
No, not a lot.rjb wrote:I didn't think you had any "remainers" down your way.
I was surprised how some I thought I knew guessed were remainers who turned out to be leavers.
Chatting the other day to a chap whom we've known for thirty years or more. He used to work for the diplomatic corps and has been all over the world. I expected he was a European lover, and wanted us to remain and even get closer to the EU.
Turns out he's a staunch anti European and has always been. He, like me, says we shouldn't have joined in the first place.

I’d suggest Eire would be the logical place to go, somewhere towards Dublin might be best. Eire has a better climate than Scotland, it has some framework linking it to the U.K., English is spoken there and it is still in the EU.
Personally I intend to stay put and see what the future brings, BoJo might have a majority now but if Labour re-engage brain and select a centrist leader then he’ll be mindful not to swing too far to the right least the land slide beneath his feet in 2024. He and his party will also have an eye on local elections and by-elections.
What will happen in Scotland is anybody’s guess, but if push comes to shove then Westminster now has the might to resolve the issue in anyway that they might choose ... I wouldn’t go to Scotland.
Don’t fret, it’s OK to: ride a simple old bike; ride slowly, walk, rest and admire the view; ride off-road; ride in your raincoat; ride by yourself; ride in the dark; and ride one hundred yards or one hundred miles. Your bike and your choices to suit you.

I know one guy, a Scot, with a string of hotels in Scotland who has moved his HQ to England, but that was more than a year ago. Wise man, I think. I understand the banksters are rubbing their hands with glee.

Reuse, recycle, thus do your bit to save the planet.... Get stuff at auctions, Dump, Charity Shops, Facebook Marketplace, Ebay, Car Boots. Choose an Old House, and a Banger ..... And cycle as often as you can......

Ooooh - will there be obstacle golf, centrifugal bumble-puppy, escalator squash and Riemann-surface tennis? Will there be orgy-porgy following the bouts of Boris worship?
Mind, we will all soon be subjects of King Boris rather than citizens of The UK, especially as there will no UK.
But who cares as long as we can all bumble puppy centrifugally and enjoy a Boris joke on the undeserving poor!

Yep, in the case of independence happening any sensible company will move its assets out of Scotland and its headquarters to South of the Border. Scotland will become a Socialist republic and likely get into financial difficulties within a few years, the consequences won’t be nice. My wife has friends in Scotland, some of their children decided that there was no future for them in SNP’s vision and running of Scotland and so they have effectively emigrated. The parents are staying for now but I recon that they’ll head South if the SNP do manage to get independence.
