Hi,
Hip hip hurrah.
The presenter appeared from nowhere having previously been on radio.
The BBC announce that it will not cut BBC one programs at all.
But now it has.
The show apparently was award-winning?
Maybe the award was the fact that it was so slow it used to send you to sleep?
My take on it was that the presenter was slow and boring.
The presenters sidekicks were always standing in for the presenter.
The reason was that the presenter did not want to travel north to the studios where the program was meant to be filmed from.
I would imagine it was all too expensive.
The program used to be aired on BBC Two but nobody bothered watching it apparently circulation was something like just under 40,000.
Then they slotted it onto BBC one to save the program.
Originally the program was meant to show diverse views, articles which did not get mainstream attention.
today the program is described as (Part of? Or) News and current affairs programme?
The presenter Is also married to a BBC employee who was removed from their job then allowed back in again for abuse?
Also no idea how much the presenter earns?
Probably because they work for their own company?
You couldn't make it up could you.

If it does and the presenter is deemed controversial it means that it might be very iffy to show the program at a later date in history.

Do they show repeats of current affairs shows? It might be good to see old QT shows with Benn and Heseltine. The old beasts with integrity. I don't see the benefit of rewatching newsnight for example. It's just a news programme of a particular time.

Quite! It does seem unlikely that NA's idea that a controversial current affairs programme presenter might make it very iffy to show it again as repeat at a later date. I would have thought the time dependence of current affairs would do that first.

Name sounds familiar, maybe from the radio where she comes, but then I dont listen to Radio 4 ( live much) either. I am finding since I got a smartphone I am using a podcast app to download any of the interesting BBC stuff ( and there is lots of it ) - no need for that iplayer thing , where the shows self destuct after a time?( even the world at one is a podcast) The Guardian also has quite a few good podcasts
Any one else here use podcast apps? and what for?

I've never watched her show but I now read Micky Fab (Michael Fabricant M.P.) is pleased she is being sacked, so she cannot be all bad.

I don't watch TV but I am aware that she has done some outstanding work on children and women caught up in the criminal justice system and also children's rights. Which is possibly where her show hot the awards.
It is always a worry when there is an attempt to silence something which holds truth to power. That holds true even if we don't like the programme itself.

All the supporters et cetera claim changing viewers et cetera et cetera.
The first thing I do when someone arrives on the scene is to look at their profile.
You would think someone who is supposedly? Award-winning would have a pretty comprehensive profile.
But no you normally find they miss out large amounts of their life especially their early years?
Not the presenter but another presenter still very very young got a Queens award.
But when you look at their profile apparently someone found the presenter working in a airport shop? Then they gave them a TV show?
Even today they can't agree on the description of the program?

The presenter and 200 other staff were apparently meant to relocate in Manchester in their new 1 billion broadcasting house.
But this was never going to happen for the presenter was it, probably the main reason why the axed the the show.

I assume she speaks with a SE accent( ie the right one)?
cant blame her as they dont speak proper north of Watford?, they all have strange common accents
She was frightened that she might pick it up while there and not be able to return to the hub of civilisation later.-

Not surprised.
Hardly anyone watched her show and she is lucky it wasn't scrapped long ago.
But she did have the common sense to concentrate on woke topics and the victim culture so beloved by the BBC so perhaps that explains the longevity of the show.
