A new nom-du plume Bryn? Or is it your Hyde after your Jekyll found some of the potion left at the back of a cupboard? Time will tell.

Names are weird. In Burma people don't have surnames (or at least the Bamar ethnic group doesn't). Throughout life people can (and do) change their name - not any "official" process like deed poll in UK, just significant event in their lives or change of direction and they decide to change their name to reflect the new path e.g leaving monastic life, whatever. Wake up one day and decide you're now

So when a Myanma national applies for e.g. a foreign travel visa there are normally specific exemptions around "Surname (mandatory)" for Burmese.

So when does a real name become a nom de plume?

Mine is obvious and boring, initials and county (local CTC uses "Notts").

The story behind mine is that I chose the first two words I though of, something I do regularly when my work computer asks me to change my password.

Looked at a railway forum, two common types of names: loco nunbers, station names
34017
4472
Hull Paragon
Abergele & Pensarn..
Might I call myself 'Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwerndrobwllllantilisilogogogoch'?

Cycling-of course, but it is far better on a Gillott

You have those train numbers the wrong way round. Bulleid worked under Gresley.

In the UK too, not so long ago there was no need, people were lucky if they went to the market town once a year
Then people were told they had to think up surnames
Mike England played football for Wales, I wonder if his grandparents thought choosing that name might be advantageous, or maybe they were from England
'Hamburger' occurs as a family name in Frankfurt/M, Germany but not much in Hamburg :?
I guess cos most people there are 'Hamburgers' anyway

Back in 2012, just to give me different destinations to ride to, I thought I'd try to walk/cycle to as many of the gold postboxes that I could, working up to more distant ones, I haven't got very far though. I think the page with the map of them all has gone too, so it might be tricky but I think there will be some record somewhere, that's if they haven't all been vandalised by now.

Edit - I've found their locations

My my. How that line has flourished since I lived in Alresford. Back then I think they only had the T9 and the Schools class.

I'm "scribes" because on 25 October 1960 I signed on the dotted line as a Writer in the Royal Navy.

Changed my mind (or augmented it), I am a reference to Cyrille Guimard who discovered Bernard Hinault
