What's my orchid?
What's my orchid?
Mrs Mick F picked this at Tesco a couple of weeks ago for only £2.50.
They had lots of them on offer left over from Easter.
No label on it to say what variety.
It's very healthy, and it looks great.
Any idea what variety?

It's actually a bit paler in real life, and Mrs Mick F say's it's pink.

Haven't a scooby, Mick... but have you tried a web-based search via your phone camera? We've used various apps when out and about walking, to identify plants and fungi, and they can come up trumps! Here's a link to PlantSnap, which is free - other phone apps are available Wouldn't trust them to make a positive id for fungi for obvious reasons, but they're good fun. Might work for the orchid - or perhaps it'll have a good think and then tell you you've got... an orchid!

Found it!
Phalaenopsis also known as The Moth Orchid.

Mrs Mick F asked all her FaceBook friends and they sussed it.
I see Phil has beaten me to it.

any one one know what causes this tree deformity? Tooting Common
Ihave never bothered to walk around Tooting Common, as from the road looked rather tame, but there are some great walks both tarmaced and dirt wandering amongst some gorgeous trees and greenary, which scream out "climb me". It seemed all of london was out today.

I believe it is a virus.
Results in "burrs" which can have beautiful figuring of the grain and be sought after by woodworkers.
Sometimes small ones can be removed with a well aimed and surprisingly light blow and they have strange root like structures a bit like large teeth.

Nearly three acres, unfenced woodlands into other unfenced woodlands and into unfenced into fields. Just high Cornish banks that an athletic Border Collie can scale with ease.philvantwo wrote:Thought your chalet had 10 acres mick f?

All he wants to do is run. Until he's escaped and run away, I can find him and he'll come back with me.
I'm 67. He's nearly 18m and will live until maybe 15 or 16. I'll be my early 80s.
The main issue though, is that we bought a young parrot in 1985 when I was 33.
She's 35 now and they probably live until they're 80, meaning I'll be 115 or so when she dies.
Meanwhile, she copies my voice, sounds like me, and loves me dearly.
