Two Merlin engines

A few years back it was the 75th anniversary of the first Spitfire flight and approx 12 aircraft did a fly past over Southampton. Being a resident of Woolston, the suburb in which the Supermarine factory was sited I was really looking forward to the event - as were many locals.
Well, what a let down; they flew up the west side of Southampton Water and over the far side of the city and were barely audible and nothing but dots on the horizon. There were a few angry faces on the shore that day.
The older I get the more I’m inclined to act my shoe size, not my age.

I was awoken the other morning by a parliament of rooks enacting question time on a tree outside my bedroom window.
Not perhaps my favourite sound, but better than traffic noise.
The garden is full of ring-necked doves, and occasionally we hear a green woodpecker.
It's the same the whole world over
It's the poor what gets the blame
It's the rich what gets the pleasure
Isn't it a blooming shame?

Unfavourite sound
Cheap dry loud harsh clicking of an expensive modern cycle when freewheeling
Fortunately or otherwise the MSOs, Merckx-Shaped-Objects are pedalling most of the time

Sitting in the garden with Flynn the Springer spaniel by my side listening to the wind chimes the Mrs made from some big shells we picked up on a beach at Lagos in Portugal last year.

Curlews in the late evening, heard from inside a sleeping bag.
Skein of geese flying low overhead, chattering to each other. This often seen while walking from work towards car park at the end of an autumn day
Theme tune of Holby City (has become a tradition to watch with older daughter). Sad, that one, I know.
The hum of the venerable cement works near Castleton, heard from a tent nearby.
