As has been remarked, this goverment very deliberately chooses the timing of such shenanigans to maximise opacity and furthermore, doesn't actually care what we think. As far as these people are concerned, the population is just for one thing - to make money out of...

A very accurate term for them is Snollygosters (a la Samuel Johnson).

One of Rodchenkov’s roles in the anti-doping agency was to help prevent the Russian athletes from getting caught doping, rather than to prevent them from doping.

Watch “Icarus”

Anti-Corruption / Anti-Doping what’s the difference?

Well what do you know? Steve Bannon, friend and supporter of Boris Johnson and Nigel Farage, has been indicted on embezzlement charges, allegedly nicking money meant for Trump's wall.

Trump pardon alert. They fell out, but Bannon knows where the bodies are buried, for sure.

I think this is number six of Trump's close advisers. Some have been imprisoned, some pardoned.

Condemnation here from across the board, by long-term, academic and experienced health service professionals. This is not going down well. These are senior players, well used to the ebb and flow of politicians and their whims, so to speak out like this is unusual.
Among those quoted in the article linked above are:
* the chief executive of the Royal Society for Public Health
* the chief executive of the King’s Fund
* the chief executive of the Health Foundation
* the chief executive of the Nuffield Trust
* the editor of the Lancet
They wouldn't go on record like this unless they had serious concerns...

From the article:-
However, doctors and hospital bosses have leapt to PHE’s defence and branded the move unfair, unjustified, and part of a government effort to distract from its own failings over Covid-19

Ain't that he truth?

TBF the Lancet Editor seems to put his name to anything that might generate publicity, I've noticed.

If only it were that straightforward. Penrose is a neo-liberal stalwart and active in the think-tank called 1828. One of their long-held views is that the NHS should be dismantled and replaced by an American-style insurance system.
When you've finished mulling over that, go and have a look at the number of contracts that have been awarded to a company, without competitive tender, ironically named Public First and run by long-standing chums of Gove & Cummings, with respect to the exam algorithm scandal, then get your calculator out and work out how much of our hard-earned tax that amounts to...

It' not just the money there are 50,000 dead due to C19 and this government's total and utter incompetence and corruption.

People generally don't realise just how bad things have become, and set to get a whole lot worse.

Over a month since the calculations showed that figure to be nudging 65k...

Interesting development - shows some MPs are not prepared to simply put up with the way the gov / PM behaves, without a bit of a struggle...
