Happened in the last few days

It should happen more often and put a stop to these arrogant people who think face covering law doesnt apply to them. I understand London is on the point of having a lockdown.

The guy should have immediatley been fined is it now £200? That would have shut the b*******d up?

I feel sorry for the cops who have to do this not only risking life and limb but also being infected by these so-and-sos. What made it really bad it seemed the train was quite full

It’s hard to know who to be more sorry for: the Policemen who suffered a load of completely unnecessary agro or the many law abiding people of colour that behave themselves but are type cast due to the stupidity of some other people of colour. I thought the Police were too tolerant really, it should have been an immediate case of you’re breaking the law and we’re both booking you and removing you from this train now. Doubtless there will be some ‘do gooders’ on here who complain of Police behaviour but the video footage is pretty clear as to what actually went on and in my experience of youths in number it’s not particularly untypical behaviour.

Plus one. I’ve met all sorts over the years and come to a similar conclusions. My own experience is that the type of behaviour in the video isn’t too untypical of BAME youths, but at the same time there are many BAME people who I’d be very happy to welcome into my home and they are not well served by the actions of other people people of similar ethnicity. Whatever, to my mind the young man being talked to by the Police was both arrogant and deliberately acting stupidly. In my opinion the Police showed excessive patience and should have simply booked him within seconds of the conversation starting - if no good excuse or reason is quickly forthcoming then the culprit should be swiftly dealt with.

I don't think you understand the point I made. The stereotype was a young stupid male. Ethnicity is irrelevant, except in the eyes of some viewers.

The guy was an ahole should have been fined on the spot. Its now been 6 months and how many dead?. During the height of the lockdown on london over overground there was this young guy no face mask munching away on his snacks all laid out on the the seats. ( these trains have seats facing inwards on either sides). Another occassion a couple of young girls ( opposite me) one not so pretty was wearing her mask the other with good looks, projecting her bits didnt - didnt want to cover up her assets I suppose. Another occasion a couple of foreign ladies in their 30s were having a meal on one of the seating with tables. Another occasion a couple came in standing in the aisle chatting with no masks and an elderly gent moved to the other the end of the carriage where I was. another occasion 4 foreign guys maybe in their 20s came in occupied a pair of the seats that are self facing with no masks on. it goes on and on. In many cases where there are two people one may be wearing a mask the other not - I see this in my lidls the woman wearing a mask her partner not. no excuse none whatsoever. its deliberate. My lidls has been selling the masks I think 10 for about £6 or so. Or as I do I use a cotton snood, cost me just 99p from China

its about time we ALL stood up to idiots like the lad ( note I didnt refer to any description of colour or race etc ) who chose not to WEAR A MASK AS REQUIRED BY LAW ON PUBLIC TRANSPORT...He acted like a compete buffoon and the cops acted professionally in the manner in which they dealt with the incident . To say that they ''lacked imagination''. completely astounds me......Are you one of those who publicly decry the police service yet are the quick to call for assistance when you feel threatened or suffer injustice?

I did get your point but made additional ones. When you strip this situation back and take out age, gender and ethnicity we’re left with an individual who was flouting the rules and goading Police Officers. By association his actions discredit other males, other youths and other people of colour.

Absolutely. Unfortunately they would then almost certainly be accused of being heavy handed and racist. I’d like to see the youth concerned fined for his offence and further punished for the uncooperative way in which he engaged with the Constabulary.

I sometimes wonder where all this aggression comes from when all that is being asked is to obey the rules. Civil disobedience has it's place but during these times it's just stupid.
