One policeman doing his job on London trains

Happened in the last few days

It should happen more often and put a stop to these arrogant people who think face covering law doesnt apply to them. I understand London is on the point of having a lockdown.

The guy should have immediatley been fined is it now £200? That would have shut the b*******d up?

I would like to see that happen in my local lidls

I feel sorry for the cops who have to do this not only risking life and limb but also being infected by these so-and-sos. What made it really bad it seemed the train was quite full

It’s hard to know who to be more sorry for: the Policemen who suffered a load of completely unnecessary agro or the many law abiding people of colour that behave themselves but are type cast due to the stupidity of some other people of colour. I thought the Police were too tolerant really, it should have been an immediate case of you’re breaking the law and we’re both booking you and removing you from this train now. Doubtless there will be some ‘do gooders’ on here who complain of Police behaviour but the video footage is pretty clear as to what actually went on and in my experience of youths in number it’s not particularly untypical behaviour.

The police are rude and aggressive-no wonder the black community regard white police as oppressive. No diplomacy,no please and thankyou. This sort of thing must alarm Cressida Dick-all those hours of training wasted. He should have sought cooperation, and if not forthcoming, moved on.The other passengers did not seem bothered about youth and their silence underlined their tacit disapproval of the police action.

As OP suggests, this is arrogance and stupidity. I think those qualities are no respectors of race or colour.

Plus one. I’ve met all sorts over the years and come to a similar conclusions. My own experience is that the type of behaviour in the video isn’t too untypical of coloured youths, but at the same time there are many people of colour who I’d be very happy to welcome into my home and they are not well served by the actions of other people people of similar ethnicity. Whatever, to my mind the young man being talked to by the Police was both arrogant and deliberately acting stupidly. In my opinion the Police showed excessive patience and should have simply booked him within seconds of the conversation starting - if no good excuse or reason is quickly forthcoming then the culprit should be swiftly dealt with.

A white youth could have been used to substitute for the lad in question-they too display stubborness,The key thing is that the police lacked imagination and escalated matters rather defuse the situation. Both sides were acting up but police are trained profeassionals-sadly they were goaded and lost control. And they want police to become teachers-oh dear.

I don't think you understand the point I made. The stereotype was a young stupid male. Ethnicity is irrelevant, except in the eyes of some viewers.

geeeeeessssssssssssssss what a twisted viewpoint.

The guy was an ahole should have been fined on the spot. Its now been 6 months and how many dead?. During the height of the lockdown on london over overground there was this young guy no face mask munching away on his snacks all laid out on the the seats. ( these trains have seats facing inwards on either sides). Another occassion a couple of young girls ( opposite me) one not so pretty was wearing her mask the other with good looks, projecting her bits didnt - didnt want to cover up her assets I suppose. Another occasion a couple of foreign ladies in their 30s were having a meal on one of the seating with tables. Another occasion a couple came in standing in the aisle chatting with no masks and an elderly gent moved to the other the end of the carriage where I was. another occasion 4 foreign guys maybe in their 20s came in occupied a pair of the seats that are self facing with no masks on. it goes on and on. In many cases where there are two people one may be wearing a mask the other not - I see this in my lidls the woman wearing a mask her partner not. no excuse none whatsoever. its deliberate. My lidls has been selling the masks I think 10 for about £6 or so. Or as I do I use a cotton snood, cost me just 99p from China

I shall refrain from describing how I truly feel about your comments other than ...''total rubbish''

its about time we ALL stood up to idiots like the lad ( note I didnt refer to any description of colour or race etc ) who chose not to WEAR A MASK AS REQUIRED BY LAW ON PUBLIC TRANSPORT...He acted like a compete buffoon and the cops acted professionally in the manner in which they dealt with the incident . To say that they ''lacked imagination''. completely astounds me......Are you one of those who publicly decry the police service yet are the quick to call for assistance when you feel threatened or suffer injustice?

Its about time we stop this namby pamby attitude to the pandemic ......If someone chooses to ignore advice or guidance then its about time they experience the long arm of the law and suffer the consequences of their selfish actions.

Could you do better ?

Absolute rubbish.......''He should have sought cooperation, and if not forthcoming, moved on''. WHAT PLANET ARE YOU LIVING ON ?

Dear Mr nasty bank robber please put down the sawn off shotgun...No?...Ok ...carry on and sorry to bother you''.

I dont like to use colours to describe people .....unlike you ...but I will use your terms of description;- I did notice that the white police officer , who you claim are oppressive to the black community was accompanied by a black police officer in the video ......was the black officer considered to be oppressive and causing alarm to Ms Cressida Dickhmmmmm?

Police are just too soft, should of just slapped a £200 FPN on the lad within a minute of telling him to wear a mask.

I did get your point but made additional ones. When you strip this situation back and take out age, gender and ethnicity we’re left with an individual who was flouting the rules and goading Police Officers. By association his actions discredit other males, other youths and other people of colour.

I can but assume that your comments are some form of ‘wind-up’.

Absolutely. Unfortunately they would then almost certainly be accused of being heavy handed and racist. I’d like to see the youth concerned fined for his offence and further punished for the uncooperative way in which he engaged with the Constabulary.

I always suspected many cyclists were angry people, with reactionary views.Must be full of ex=military types who worship Farage and Gove, and despise unions and anything vaguely at variance with their miopic provincialism. The above comments are proof of my suspicion.

The only underlying health problem I see is self importance. Having to share an enclosed space with these eedjiits is not acceptable.

I sometimes wonder where all this aggression comes from when all that is being asked is to obey the rules. Civil disobedience has it's place but during these times it's just stupid.
