It was stupid to publish the letter and in my opinion likely to antagonise the French authorities. It's almost like Johnson wants everything to fail and publishing the letter is more about "it's their fault". The meeting Johnson refers to (Patel with French) is the platform to discuss ways forward, not one sided through Twitter. The posting on Twitter is bound to make Patel's meeting a lot less effective.
Johnson has reasons to keep antagonising the French and the EU as it helps to rally his troops behind him while diverting attention away from other important issues that he doesn't want a light shining on.
Frost is his prime general in that battle.
As things weren't bad enough with PeppaPigate,we now have one Nick Fletcher(Tory MP for Done Valley)believing and blaming crime committed by men,on women being portrayed as heroes in scifi films and TV such as StarWars and Doctor Who ! :- https://www.theguardian.com/politics/20 ... o-crime-mp
Just how bizarre and out of touch is the Tory party that it's MP's believe and voice such claptrap?

I see Ms Patel has been told not to bother turning-up to a EU meeting on the refugee crisis. Hardly a surprise given Johnson deliberately antagonising the French as well as Patel's ongoing blaming everybody else for her own inadequate management.
Question is, did Johnson do it deliberately to make Patel fail so when he sacks her she wont get sympathy and backing for her attempt at leadership. Or was it just Johnson's inability to thing before doing (again). Either is pretty bad reflection on what is going on in Westminster whilst people continue to die in their attempts to claim asylum.
And as the world warms (made worse thanks to Johnson's failed COP) and large areas of the country suffer crop failures and become uninhabitable what do they thing will happen to refugee numbers then?

The elephant in the room is the fact that this £86k is all about enabling people to keep their house to pass it on as inheritance, it doesn't answer the thorny issue of how the massive costs of care and/or nursing home charges will get paid, and who is going to pay it.
Hunt, who chairs the Commons health and social care select committee, told the care minister Gillian Keegan the plans would do nothing to stop “hospital wards continuing to be full of people who should be discharged and older people not getting the care they need because the carers don’t exist”.
Isn't that the Jeremy Hunt who was Secretary of State for Health and Social Care from 2012 to 2018, commemorated in rhyming slang for his contribution to getting us into this mess?
