Nothing to do with with Boris's brain, missing or otherwise, but nobody who has ever seen what counts as the "meat" in the in any case low percentage of meat in typical supermarket sausages would praise them.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SausageThe minimum meat content to be labelled Pork Sausages is 42% (30% for other types of meat sausages), although to be classed as meat, the Pork can contain 30% fat and 25% connective tissue.
It's the same the whole world over
It's the poor what gets the blame
It's the rich what gets the pleasure
Isn't it a blooming shame?

Very disappointed with the summit.
Should have been much stronger on climate change and worldwide vaccination.
The USA put down a useful marker on stability in Ireland. The UK's Prime Minister and Foreign Secretary got into silly bickering about whether the UK is a single country.
How will history look back at this one? A sense of normalisation after Trump?

I wonder if the limited outcomes were in part because Johnson has spent the last month antagonising a lot of those attending (and the other has a long standing "Trump Close" opinion). What is the point of reaching any agreement when next week the host party will probably be ignoring because they didn't really understand what they were agreeing to?Jdsk wrote: ↑14 Jun 2021, 9:54am Very disappointed with the summit.

Committee on Standards in Public Life:

"We have found that four areas of standards regulation require significant reform: the Ministerial Code and the Independent Adviser on Ministers' Interests, the business appointment rules and the Advisory Committee on Business Appointments (ACOBA), transparency around lobbying, and the regulation of public appointments."

And the Speaker today:
"I find it totally unacceptable that, once again, we see Downing Street running roughshod over members of parliament. We’re not accepting it, and I’m at the stage where I’m beginning to look for other avenues, if they’re not going to treat this house seriously."
Any suggestions for "other measures"?

Has Joe left a hidden message in his gift?
Re: Boris's Brain is missing
So we now have a Trade Deal with Australia! Does anybody have any reason to assume Johnson actually understands what the deal is about and its impacts on the UK (given recent experiences of not understanding international agreements he negotiated and agreed to).
Add that stil no Chair appointed to Trade and Agriculture Commission (TAC) (so no scrutiny there) and that trade deals come under "Royal Prerogative" - little chance of anybody outside Johnson's inner supporter of brexit club having any input.

One imagines that, as with the NI protocol and the Brexit deal, he just hasn't read it.

The report has been published:Jdsk wrote: ↑19 May 2021, 9:13pm “There are no national security issues involved. There are national embarrassment issues.”

And on the behaviour of the Home Secretary the Panel has written:
"Again at the last minute, and very much to our surprise, the Home Secretary informed us she would not publish our report in Parliament until she and her officials had time to read it to ensure the report did not give rise to any issues under Article 2 of the European Convention on Human Rights, or on National Security grounds.
"We do not wish to rehearse the discussions which subsequently took place, other to say how disappointed we were that the Home Secretary chose to adopt this stance when she did. We are unaware of any such intervention previously.
"We do not believe the Home Secretary’s approach was justified in this case."

And with the Aus deal adding a massive "boost [to] the economy by 0.02 per cent over the coming 15 years" - Johnson should be able to spaff that to his mates by lunchtime.

Excellent summary of the G7' contribution to vaccinating the world "No-one is safe until everyone is safe "

In an act of selfless generosity the world’s richest countries have decided to donate their unwanted, leftover vaccines to poor countries instead of just binning them.
This selfless act will of course come after all men, women, children, dogs, cats and hamsters have received at least three doses of the vaccine at which point the world’s poorest can have a go at protecting their elderly and vulnerable.
Kindness and sacrifice on this scale will surely bode well for any future discussions with poorer nations around climate change targets, explains Boris Johnson: ‘What more proof is needed that we are all in it together?’
Poorer nations are yet to comment as they are a little busy trying to stop people dying, stop the virus spreading and prop up their inadequate healthcare systems.

If you were an MEP you would get a vote on any trade deal. If you are an MP, no such luck.

Re: Boris's Brain is missing
It’s hard to say this but unless this sort of thing is somehow stopped - and with Parliament being as it is I don’t see how it will be - we are making further progress in the direction of an elected dictatorship. Johnson already had in the Queen’s Speech that he was planning to curb the rule of law and subject the courts in some areas to government oversight.
He has neutralised the ministerial code, he has over-ridden for the first time in history the decision of the body for scrutinising elevation of a Tory donor as a peer, he has suppressed parliamentary reports, he has been proven in the courts several times that he is heading a government acting corruptly.
He threatens to break agreements which he freely signed.
One more step towards totalitarianism? I hope not but we are in deep, deep trouble.
