iMac problem - replacement but not a computer?
Re: iMac problem - replacement but not a computer?
What about this then?
Ain't she good!
We’ve bought a brand new Toshiba
A telly really clever
We’re feeling rather pleased with it
We’ll keep it now, forever.
It took a while to set it up
With daughter’s help and aid
And nephew on a video call
We turned it on and prayed.
It’s over ten years now, I add
Since we last watched a box
The novelty has made us smile
A change from books and clocks.
Technology is not our strength
It took two days to learn
We took out the remote and pressed
No need for knobs to turn!
We sat and watched quite avidly
Then chose to change the channel.
Pointed the remote control
And lost the battery panel!
At last we found it. On the bed!
In company with pup
Chewed, defaced and out of shape
It truly was messed up!
Doggy’s in the Dog House now
He’s not allowed a treat
The “smart” remote is tatty and
Not at all complete.
Do you have a spare one please?
(Just the sliding door)
We promise we’ll be careful and
Not drop it on the floor!

A short, simple, letter; polite but to the point, would be my choice.
If the recipients working day is like a lot of others they don’t want to be wasting time wading through excess material to work out what a person is wanting.

I've always had far more success finding out the email of the CEO of the company and contacting them that way. Our lads tele packed up about 5yrs ago, I found the receipt out and it was a week over the 12month warranty. I emailed the CEO of the company, his PA replied within an hour asking for the serial number and then my address as they were sending a new tele out for him!

Our choice too.Syd wrote:A short, simple, letter; polite but to the point, would be my choice.
The poem, and a photograph will be included in the envelope with it.

What’s this talk of envelopes? [emoji23]
Re: iMac problem - replacement but not a computer?
I assumed that the envelope is for the USB stick that has the content.

Ok wise guys!
Mrs Mick F prefers to handwrite a letter, and not send an email.

Cost of stamps is (in my opinion) horrendous these days. So, unless they have included a postage paid envelope or have a Freepost address I'd be using e-mail.

I'd use email even if time weren't of the essence. The paper letter is just a nuisance to the receiver, and they'll probably have to scan and tag it.

Very brave of Mick to get a TVL in the light of his previous opposition. I can understand peoples principled stand against the tax but little gems can be found amongst the welter of dross transmitted. Whether they are worth the money depends on your taste and sense of values.

Whilst out collecting the telly, we'll be looking at rugs (in the flesh) and probably not buying but we'll see what we want.
I've already explained about the greengrocer.
Here's a recommendation for you, make a statement, just don't drop the remote down it.
At the last count:- Peugeot 531 pro, Dawes Discovery Tandem, Dawes Kingpin X3, Raleigh 20 stowaway X2, 1965 Moulton deluxe, Falcon K2 MTB dropped bar tourer, Rudge Bi frame folder, Longstaff trike conversion on a Giant XTC 840

Here I am typing on a wired keyboard on our Toshiba Smart TV. So yes, you can connect up a keyboard. There was no point in doing this other than an experiment.

Re: iMac problem - replacement but not a computer?
Back on a real computer now.
There's only one USB slot on the back and navigating without a mouse was rather laborious. The curser is moved using the up/down/left/right buttons but it's very slow. At least we know that a keyboard works.
I tried connecting our bluetooth mouse (Apple) and it didn't show up. I have a wired mouse, but only having one USB slot taken up by the keyboard, I can't do it. I do have a USB hub that'll take five USBs to try ........... but is there any point?
The way the web browser works is very slow and as we have other devices for the internet, using the telly is a bit daft.
