I'm not saying that the compass is a gimmick, just that I have no real use for it. In my youth, when genuine war surplus was plentiful, I bought a military compass and learned how to use it, but no longer any use for the kit or the skill.

I'd never appreciated how long Apple do provide "critical support" on their products for.

Apple has rolled out a new security update for its older gadgets running on iOS 12 such as the iPhone 5s, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus and iPad Air, to fix a trio of vulnerabilities including some which could lead to memory corruption.

While most of the devices running on this iOS version were launched in 2013 or 2014 and would be currently six or seven years old, Apple has continued to update them with important security fixes.

Not suggesting these oldr devices can do everything newer versions can do but I'd not appreciated that there were any updates for devices that old.

This is news for anybody who hasn't got a iPhone 6s up.
Below this iOS 15 is not applicable.
As far as I know 14.8.1 Has security updates.

Hi,
Well I accidentally upgraded to 15.1 :P
I certainly didn't do it intentionally.
My phone is the first generation SE.
Oh well we'll see how it goes, I imagine that the security updates are all there it's just that certain things don't work like they do on newer iPhones.
I didn't think you could do this whereas previously I'm sure it said not applicable.

P.S. well that's all changed-

I see that the 1st gen SE will run ios 15 (here). I imgaine that 15 will be the last though. Then decide whether to stick with it, or spring for a new phone. Given that the planet has had it and it doesn't really matter what we do, I'd aim to spend all I can before death and sod the children... have to say that the move from my own 1st gen SE to a 12 mini was worthwhile (unless you consider the future of the planet and the human race, that is! hahahahahaha)

iOS15 will be the last in all likelihood, but it will retain security updates for years to come
A shortcut has to be a challenge, otherwise it would just be the way. No situation is so dire that panic cannot make it worse.
There are two kinds of people in this world: those can extrapolate from incomplete data.

My 6s is at IOS 15.1
Mrs Mick F has a 6s too, but she hasn't "upgraded" to IOS 15 .................... yet.

Software Update doesn't take you from 14 to 15 automatically, you have to do it as a separate operation.

Hi,
My only step up from the first gen SE will be of course the 12 mini.
Big phones go with oversize screens the ones that are mounted on the wall, where you need to sit in the hall to be able to see the whole screen comfortably
