Swedish red cabin paint
I am thinking of painting my wood cabin in the red I saw on every cabin on a visit to Sweden.
The authentic Falu paint is rather expensive though.
Does anybody have knowledge, experience or recommendations which might help?

I asked my work colleageue - she's Swedish - and she said, "Whatever you do, don't go for the Surströmming!" I only mention this 'cos it's in a red can and you might get mixed up...

I've no idea about available colours but on my house and garage (wooden weatherboard) I use Jotun paints (Scandinavian company). https://www.jotun.com/uk/en/b2b/paintsandcoatings/. Expensive stuff jut good. Place I get the paint from mixes the colour in store so if it's in their colour range a stockist can supply. I get it (where I get all my paint) from Brewers who know their stuff and stock a lot of specialist paints.
If you go with Jotun, check with your supplier as depending on the state of surface it might need a prime first.

Ta. I'd not found that one.simonineaston wrote: ↑20 Apr 2021, 10:41am I asked my work colleageue - she's Swedish - and she said, "Whatever you do, don't go for the Surströmming!" I only mention this 'cos it's in a red can and you might get mixed up...
"Falu Rodfarg Rod" I have found. It is pricey, but presumably the real deal. Please excuse absence of accents!

I've had a wander around, but all roads seem to lead back to the original, and at £70 for 10 litres it's not that expensive, given you know it'll do a 'proper job'?

Thanks. I have rather set my heart on the Swedish red look. I will investigate Jotun.Psamathe wrote: ↑20 Apr 2021, 10:51am I've no idea about available colours but on my house and garage (wooden weatherboard) I use Jotun paints (Scandinavian company). https://www.jotun.com/uk/en/b2b/paintsandcoatings/. Had neglected to notice the ex VAT, but lest it's useful:

The original. I have used a lot of this companies paint in my restoration of a Georgian house and love it but I have to admit it is a bit of a pain to use outdoors. It needs a good day or two of sunlight to 'go off'
