Post your favourite Youtube channels here

Post by Colin63 »

After posting a link to the Youtube channel for Henry Wildeberry the other day (see here: https://www.youtube.com/c/Henrywildeberry/featured) I thought it would be a good idea to at least have a Topic thread started for us to make these recommendations as there is no obvious place to put them.
Since promoting Henry Wildeberry I've found two more cycling channels that I've been enjoying enormously.
They are:
https://www.youtube.com/c/BicycleAdventureClub/featured - Probably the most joyous cycling channel in the world. Two women from the midlands who don't know how to get up in the morning without laughing (just start off watching their Hadrians Wall cycle tour).
The second is:
https://www.youtube.com/c/JethroJessop/featured - A pleasing world-weary (but grudgingly life-loving) chap who pedals around Scandinavia and various bits of England on solo cycle mini-adventures.

Good armchair touring.
Just remember, when you’re over the hill, you begin to pick up speed.

Yes, sadly they stopped posting about a year ago. Hopefully that's more pandemic related than an abandonment of YouTube because I've enjoyed them as well.

Here's another fabulous YouTube channel:

Wheels to Wander follows a young Dutch couple Eric and Maudi on a journey across the world. They're a lovely couple full of gratitude and curiosity. They've put together beautiful vlogs of their travels. I've watched the first fifteen or so and am about to join as they enter Greece and get closer to leaving Europe.

I watched this trip from their setting off, more or less live. Lovely, modest couple, learning as they go. Not afraid to admit to difficulties.

Andy's Adventures is very entertaining. He is a wealth of information and clearly loves his cycling.
I'm appreciative of the efforts Youtube cyclists put in to making their films, it is hard to get the right mix of talking to the camera and filming your travels.
The biggest failing many have is the sound levels, background music should be no louder than speech or you are constantly adjusting the volume.

I'm hooked, and am now with them in Japan –a country I very much want to visit– having spent last night travelling through the Asian deserts and the Silk Roads with them. I'm loving every minute. The way YouTube algorithms select recommendations I'm now quite surprised that the Pamir passes weren't chock-a-block with cycle tourists making vlogs! Nearly all of my recommendations are suddenly for camping gear and long distance cyclists (and if I see that Swytch Bike advert one more time…)

I did follow that advise and wasn’t too sure about them :) thinking they’d made a right mess of a good tour.
I returned a few days later and tried other vids and I’m now hooked. As you say they can’t stop being happy. Now learning a brummie accent and looking out for Mary  special!

Funnily enough they compliment a lot of narrowboat vids I’ve watched "Foxes Afloat" see the same canals but from the tow path.
Whatever I am, wherever I am, this is me. This is my life
