I think the issue is they were always guided by the science but which science? Virology, epidemiology, economic science or political science? I have no idea about the basis decisions were made and I suspect most on here weren't in the room to know that too. So we speculate based on the science we read that's published.

I'm no fan of the slightly balding mop head but I reckon he's got science advising him from all sides and from scientists other than epidemiologists too. I heard they had experts in psychology specialising in likelihood of populations to follow rules or similar research areas. He obviously looked to economists. Educationalists I'm less certain of. If you looked at this from every facet possible and experts from each of them would you be sure of your views on where the government went wrong?

That's why we need an independent review. Not to get ammunition against boris like many on here would want, but to learn for the next coronavirus pandemic or for the next variant surge.

Johnson does have plenty of scientific advice.
My fear is that he also has plenty of pressure from those in his party and from those who fund his party who care little about those groups in society who have already suffered most from covid, and will continue to suffer most. What they want is to get back to making money.
