7.5% of the towns population, though the actual figure is likely to be higher. Being a two tier town, it'd been clear from September that Covid precautions had been abandoned by a substantial proportion. Highly unlikely that many such would bother with a Covid test in between the fag or booze (Nb. Had always been amusing watching the careful efforts to smoke and drink around the covid mask )

Well, I've been ignoring the nonsense from the start and staying away from people, wearing a mask, washing hands etc...gbnz wrote: ↑25 Nov 2021, 9:11amWell I'm <50, but had a "special" invite. Had my booster last Friday
Rather glad, as 7.5% of the town are now testing positive every week. It's actually at the stage where it'd seem sensible to give the shops, buses and fag smokers a miss. But at what stage does one start ignoring all this COVID nonsense?
A shortcut has to be a challenge, otherwise it would just be the way. No situation is so dire that panic cannot make it worse.

Re: Covid Booster. Yes/No?
Where is this please? I don't know anywhere in the UK that has a prevalence of over 7%.
Thanks

Re: Covid Booster. Yes/No?
That must be the test positivity rate? The town in England with the highest infection rate, Crawley has 571 new cases per 100,000 population (confirmed cases per week for the last 4 weeks).

Got a "probably OK" from community transport and went online to book mine and only two places offered, one Bury St Edmunds (20 miles away, 40 mile round-trip making 60 mile trip for driver), the other Stowmarket (even further away)! Not unreasonably I didn't book it. (Community transport require an appointment and wont do walk-in's)

I can easily accept that I did not have the latest information, or that there are towns in Wales with higher rates than in England, but none of those are anywhere near 7%PDQ Mobile wrote: ↑25 Nov 2021, 5:02pm

I have no idea what current figures are but worst I remember hearing maybe a few months ago was 1 in 50 or 1 in 55 thought to have Covid. I presume so. It's up to 7.8% now, public health figures showing a case rate of 787.2 No per 100000

I read by mistake the figures for Torridge in Devon in the same article, which has 1018 cases
Gwynedd is second worst, as I said with 878 (from cited article).
Re: Covid Booster. Yes/No?
I live in the Vale of Glamorgan, though not in the more populous bit, and the perception here is that the high figures are driven by Covid running rampant in the schools. So the bulk of infections are in kids and their families. Obviously the virus does escape from there to other more vulnerable groups but at a lower rate. So while very busy, hospitals are not generally as over-run as you might imagine.

That's without doubt where mine came from - it's been going across classes and up-and-down between years, and was my daughter's gift to me - I mean kids normally bring a mug or something home in the run-up to Christmas, don't they - well not my daughter!pwa wrote: ↑26 Nov 2021, 8:07am I live in the Vale of Glamorgan, though not in the more populous bit, and the perception here is that the high figures are driven by Covid running rampant in the schools.
