You quoted two statistics and asked a question based on them.

It's obviously sensible to check the statistics before attempting to answer that question (or any other) that is based on them.

U.K. figure is 79.3% of population aged over 12 had second dose.
81.4% in Wales

Thanks

I'm trying to answer the question that you asked. That requires being sure about the statistics that you introduced.

If that's the total cases over the outbreak I can't see how it's connected to the current vaccination rate. Many of the infections and deaths will have occurred before the vaccination programme reached that coverage.

So my stats were and are ok?
Yes?
Infections also mean a resistance in a population?
I cannot understand why new infections have reached an all time high? (As cited)

That was my original, simple and honest question.
Answers on a postcard to .... Wikipedia?

Perhaps, but it's possible to be too cautious. Have to admit the fact that Radio 4's PM program only allocated 3 minutes to Covid today, 40 minutes into it's 60 minute slot rather emphasises that. As does the fact that none of the medical or drug issuing NHS staff I spoke with yesterday at hospital were bothering with masks, which now seems to be the norm. Suppose it's time to forget about it

The sense was cautious with the promptly queried stats.
Not about PPE!

To err on the side of caution about stats seems ok.
We are not all up to the minute informed all the time.
For reasons already given I find Wales's present record high infection rate curious.
And being a curious chap I merely popped the question on here.
No answers but smoke and mirrors resulted.
Draw any conclusion you like.

It appears Wales just keeps rising and not seeing the fall Scotland has. The early rise here in Scotland was attributed to young people and return to school.

The protection after infection appears similar to that from a dose of vaccine.

Where were those cited, please?

What figures are you using for current new infections? I don't think that can be "400,000".

It's all carefully explained (and cited) in my initial post. And well you know it.

Getting vaccinated and wearing masks and maintaining good ventilation don't seem to have much of a downside if they help to reduce infections, hospitalisations, complications and deaths.
