Loose ends - total cycling trivia Q. !
Like many cyclists, I have a D lock mount on my seat post - like most, I suspect, I have a slightly annoying tail-end, flapping about in the breeze - what is folks' favourite way of dealing with their loose ends?

Secure the end using a cable tie passed under the loop before tightening.
The older I get the more I’m inclined to act my shoe size, not my age.

I don't carry a lock that much and if I did it would be a cable to fit in my jersey pocket but I voted for cut it off because that's what I did with my saddle wedgie flappy bits.
Re: Loose ends - total cycling trivia Q. !
I wouldn't do anything because although there may be a loose end when used on bikes 1 to n, I may find I needed it when bike n+1 inevitably comes along.

My locks when I use them, are in my saddle bag.
I have two now. The Citadel D Lock from my commuting days in the 80s and 90s, and an alarm Abbus.
Can't remember when I last used either, because my bike(s) are never out of my sight.
On Friday, I called in at a shop in Tavistock and leant Moulton against the shop window. I was in there only 5mins and could see it throughout.
Some time back, I called in at Natwest Tavistock, and wheeled Moulton inside with me. Done that a few times over the years.

I'd still want it locked... someone jumps on and starts riding, you aren't going to catch them by running

A shortcut has to be a challenge, otherwise it would just be the way. No situation is so dire that panic cannot make it worse.

They'd need special shoes to ride it first!
They're more likely to run off with it than ride it, but even more likely to stand and admire it.

Hi,
Dont like flappy bits.
Its cut off only if I don't need to reuse it, cutting off the OP's pic, then it would prove difficult to reuse it?
Cable ties maybe.
Mastic, re-useable stuff.
Wrap some self adhesive tape over it.
Tip if you have trouble getting a clamp to stay put as it slides around no matter how tight it is, whether its a toggle velcro cable tied etc, use some cloth electrical tape (tesa / handle bar cloth) on the frame / other first.
Or a bit of inner tube, I have even used a rubber water pipe spilt to go over h/bars to clamp a light bracket to, as bars are to small.

Depending of the fitting, elastic band or hair band (which you can leave on the seatpost if/when you move the mount to other bikes
