Not necessarily nostalgia, but the way some people's - eg mine - memories of their childhood are better than more recent events.

I was ten when "commercial" telly launched and I can remember some pretty ordinary ads from that era.

Eg Sung with an Irish accent to the tune of a song popularised by John McCormack (E&OE)
I met him in the garden where the praties grow,
A charming little leprechaun a leaning on my hoe,
He bowed to me right modestly I'll have you all know,
And this is what he told me where the praties grow:

You've tasted nothing finer than this Clover stewing steak
The best meat from old Ireland and that is no mistake.
Try it in a hotpot, a beef pie or a stew,
And you'll always be a saying, "It's Clover Steak for you."
There was another done by Arthur "Hello playmates" Askey
Caramel Wafers by Grey Dunn
A ?????? treat for everyone,
Luscious, creamy, simply Heaven,
Twelve for only one and seven
The point about both these commercials (as they used to be called) was they were only a picture of the product + the voiceover song. Both seemed to be on every evening after children's telly ended around 6pm
