Re: Plymouth gin
Two replies here.
Two Waters Foot is on the A38 west of Liskeard.
Trerulefoot is on the A38 east of Liskeard.

Jethro is Devonian, or at least his ex-nightclub and venue are in Devon.
Here, in the blue square.

Re: Plymouth gin
Jethro was born in St Buryan, so he's proper cornish!
He's 73 now.

Re: Plymouth gin
I could have looked it up.
Just a guess, considering his venue and where he lives.

Re: Plymouth gin
Plymouth Gin?
Gin is for wimps!
What about Plymouth Sweet Imperial Stout?
This bottle is original with the stout still in there and never opened. Took this photo in The Queen's Head yesterday.

Re: Plymouth gin
Don't you mean Dave's Chipstop?
Dave is a Scouser BTW.
No we didn't but we have used Dave's a few times over the years.

How old the Stout is, I don't know.
Google it if you want!

Re: Plymouth gin
The uk went metric in 1972 so that bottle must be 50yrs old at least! Looks like that pub is filled with old tat everywhere!!
So a scouser runs the chipshop? Are there any proper Cornish people in the village?

Re: Plymouth gin
It doesn't have the screw top that I remember from my childhood. When did crown corks become (?)universal ?
Re: Plymouth gin
That is a good question, and I have no idea about a good answer.
I remember at St Michael's School primary in Wigan, when I was there, 1956 to 1964, there was "the institute" next door. We kids would often climb over the wall and see the crates of empty beer bottles and the bins full of crown-tops.
The beer was Palatine, if my memory serves me correctly. Probably brown ale.
Just here, but the place has changed rather too much IMHO.
That lane goes down to where our playground used to be, and the place on the right, was "the institute".

Been announced that Jethro has died aged (only) 73. TBH, I thought he was in this 70s when we saw him twenty years ago. Still, very sad.
