Empowering women with pageantry

Post by thirdcrank »

I didn't realise that they still organised such competitions, but the reigning Miss Universe Great Britain says
I think pageantry... gives women a platform to use their voice, speak about causes close to their heart, but also have an impact in their community, whether that's through their charity work or through volunteering

It reminded me of the Bicycle Belle competition organised at the CTC York Rally in more innocent days.

This is a picture of modern pageantry which mainly serves to preserve the legitimacy of our national institutions.

In the meantime,
Ms Collingridge is competing at the 70th international Miss Universe pageant which is taking place in Israel from 12 December.
I don't know how supporters may root for her in that final but
Information on where to find help and support is available via BBC Action Line

From what I see on social media they're still a big thing in the USA.I know we still have them but they're much more low key than they were.
There's obviously still a market for it.
