Stephen Fry once said his favourite word was "plinth", it is a good one!

I quite like "falafal" and "alabaster" too. Oh yes, and "periodical"!

edited to add - I just googled falafal and it looks like it could be spelt falafel. Either way, its the pronunciation that counts!

I think he must like words which begin 'plin ..' as his favourite philosopher/doctor/ancient Greek seems to be Pliny the Elder!

Hmmm Love falafel. To eat. s'it's OK, as a word, too, I guess! :D

Do you mean Pneumoconiosis?its a disease caused by inhaling abrasive coal dust.
Also Silicosis which is caused by inhaling silica found in stone (they're the bits that glint in the sun)
Neither of which are a favoured word for me (an ex miner).
Though as an ex miner I did (when I was a miner) like the word cobbler, which was a slang word for end of shift.

Yes I think it was somthing like that but I think Pneumoconiosis is a shortend version of the full medical term, but I'll stand correcting on it.

BTW I'm underground on Sunday at Alderley Edge - Coppermine, this is a hobby and I take my hat off to you professionals :)

Pneumoconiosis is the full and correct name.

Please don't take you hat off whilst underground, its not safe! cP:0)

BTW I haven't been underground (in a coalmine that is) for over 23yrs I'm happy to say.

Standpipe

and

Cyclist
I know that seems a bit predictable, but I really love the word as a sound, not just for what it means. I love what goes on in one's mouth as it is enunciated.
