London Freewheel on 21st September. Can't wait to cycle past all those lovely buildings in the company of lots of cyclists and no traffic.

Praying for a rain-free day...

I'm a busy lad in October - local club is having a weekend run to Pitlochry - 75 miles to Pitlochry on the Saturday, evening meal + drinks, retire to B&B for the night, then 75 miles back home on the Sunday morning. Furthest I've done on my own is 50 miles... Still I've got a month or so to get the miles in!

I've also just sent off my entry for the Braveheart Fund 2008 44mile charity Ride. Luckily I've a week or so between these two events to recover!

I'm hoping I'll be able to fix the almighty mess I've made of my Ubuntu user account, which I'd somehow managed to lock out of the admin group. Looks like I'll be having a fun evening learning vi, so that I can sort things out in diagnostic mode. Deep joy.

Lesson one: don't mess around with settings you don't understand.

Lesson two: have your home folder on a separate partition.

Our first ever dishwasher (yes, it's true) - some time next week. No more kitchen sink full of half-washed junk.

I am looking forward ..... to going to the hairdresser later on this morning.

And our choral rehearsals starting up again on Monday .... and our Cycling Club's first outing on the 13th September ..... and my very socially hectic few weeks after my convalescence!

Well, for next year. I planning to walk the Coast to Coast (my love) and do the long-waited Yorkshire Dales Cycle-Way.

In the early 1990's we had our kitchen done. The kitchen fitting person - Bob - constantly, hummed whistled and sang that tune which was popular at the time.

To get away from it all we went out for breakfast at a nearby caff and then planned a day out. Somebody ran into the back of our car, writing it off. When we eventually limped home we were greeted by Bob singing his favourite song - so it's not mine. :(
