Autumn
It seems that you cantell that autumn is here byt he increased number of questions about lights in the tech section of the forum. Soon be time to dust off the LEDs and the hiviz jacket, not to mention the gortex sock.
But one of the bad points of autumn is that you do seem to being riding while the sun is bright but low a lot, as do thedrivers that are meant to be giving way to you (ceding priority).

Yep... and that must be why there's been a big drop off in questions about factor 50 lotion...
It's on half-price sale at the moment and I've just bought enough to see me through the winter! That wind and cold weather is not not very good for the complexion, y'know!

Autumn would be my favourite time of year except for the HUGE house spiders that come out at this time (I'm phobic). So I prefer Spring for that reason.
The last time I cycled in winter I was probably about 8 yrs old and can't remember it, (*newb-daft-question-alert*) so what's it like cycling on wet leaves and how slippy is it when it's icy on the road?

The autumn spiders appeared last night - three big ones together. They stopped halfway up the corner of the room, right next to my desk. The really strange thing is... it's happened the past three years, coming to that very same spot, and always late evening. There's absolutely nothing there, halfway up. It's just a corner of two walls. And it's as if every year's crop of spiders have something programmed into them to find that spot.
oh yes i love autumn, there is sometime relaxing about the light and the colours.... i don't even mind the spiders. what i get abit spooked about are daddy long legs. my garden has sandy soil and there are loads of them...its the long legs and the fact they fly into you...creepy !!!! can't show it though with young children...i have got bowls everywhere covering them up until i can be sure they have died.
come end of october i'll be counting the days until May.. i love spring

How queer.
They don't usually travel together when they're big. Ughh!!

I don't know about spiders socialising habits but around this time of year we always end up with a big spider in our sitting room which sometimes runs between our old-fashioned television stand (with old-fashioned tele) and a corner cabinet. At other times it will just lounge about in the middle of the carpet. No way of knowing if it's the same one every year (we've been here since 1975) or a descendant of earlier visitors. Or, come to that, a total newcomer.
They also sttart coming in the bathroom window in various shapes and sizes and get stuck in the sink. (Wash hand basin.)
