Sadly, I've been poorly for most, if not all, of December, so my mileage is WAY down.

I only did 61 miles in December.
Health is on the up now, and can't wait to get out for a long-un.

Also, I had a spectacular accident in August, so only managed 23 miles that month!

Total for 2008 (drum rolls tapering off ....... )

In my defence, as a commuter, I used to ride 34 miles each day, 4 or 5 times a week. Nowadays, I cycle only for pleasure - fitted in with life and housework and lifestyle - so my mileages are higher per outing, but there are less outings per month.

In the old days I easily did double or even treble what I do now.

For the first time in 3 years I did not reach my 10,000 mile target. I got to 9,162. I put it down to spending 2 weeks walking Hadrian's Wall Path.

Mines a rather embarrassing 1950 miles. :oops:

Mind, I only really started cycling everyday in July 2008, when I lost my job & the company car went back.
Hoping to do much more this year, as I'll be cycling 45 mile a day to & from work.

May have to look into getting a proper road bike in the future,
as I'm currently using a 2004 Giant XTC MB, with road tyres fitted.

3821 miles in 168 hours? Gosh. That's much faster than me. Twice as fast, I think. But then my 422 hours weren't all active (going downhill etc).

Like most on here considerably down on my usual, 3 months at the beginning due to crash and a lack of miles in Dec due to combination of weather and ill health (again) so only 5524 when I would normally be pushing up to 9-10,000 :cry:

Oh well tis a new year and should be getting ready to go out.....

no cycling for the first 3 months but I did manage 3285 miles over 145 rides

It seems my records need some tickling. My Garmin wasn't bought until February, so I just inputted my January figures from my diary without inputting any speed and time. Consequently, my average speed for Jan is rather a high 125mph!

Also, my Grand Tour in June has just the distance but not the time. The records are in another file.

I'll get back to you when I've sorted it properly........

Actually, I'm glad this has been raised, it will make me get my house in order, ready for a new year!!

havent had the speedo on but doing the maths...
20miles a day...
6days a week...
120miles a week...
480miles a month....
works out as 5760miles

....which doesnt include LEJOG either so more like 6500miles

Bucking the trend, I managed more miles this year than ever before - partly 'cos last years' New Years Resolution was to complete a 100mile ride for each month of BST. Also I've, at last, recovered from a bad back. So I'm really pleased with my 2008 mileage:
Commuting/utillity: 1854.38 (+ some other stuff on other bikes)
Trainning/pleaseure/touring etc.: 2784.93miles over 182hr 46min 15.24mph ave.
Total=4639.31+

I'm now intending to do even more this year! (I wish I had more than a mile and a half commute)

Yes, more this year. And thanks Mick. That's more like it: average moving speed 12.05mph. Still faster than me though.

From reading this thread, 10000 miles is a good number to aim for. At 12mph, that's 833 hours in the saddle - about two and a quarter hours per day on average. One's terrain obviously makes a difference though. Maybe 10mph average in a hilly region, two hours per day average, so 7300 miles. I'd be very happy with that in 2009. 7000 even.

I can face putting mine here ;

3120 miles

probably averaging 11.5 mph with a good number of hills, including the Pas de Peyrol 5100ft in the Auvergne

No commuting mileage.

I also do 20+ miles a week walking
