Counting?
Counting?
I am beginning to wonder if there is not a cohort of professional policticians who submit comments to - or originate - threads on the forum. Why else the trivia and need to talk for the sake of it? Or perhaps some of you are professional writers accustomed to being paid by the word, or indeed are some of you engaged in a competition to submit the most entries in a given period before the weather finally gets better and allows more hours on the road. Of course I may be missing the point!

It's not just the weather that needs to get better. Cough, cough, sniff, sniff ......
We have sunshine today, I'm feeling a bit better today than of late, the weather forecast is good for next week, so my input on here may decrease somewhat.
But as someone who is being elevated to the Peership, if the rumours are correct in another part of Tea Shop, I may find I have a bigger soapbox to shout from. Also, I'll have a nice ermine-trimmed cloak and a diamond-encrusted crown please.
Oh, and a good back-hander from the taxpayer thrown in.
I wonder if I can get a grant from CTC funds ............

It's just pleasant chit-chat - in the Tea Shop, at least, and I think contributors are just as prolific in fine weather.

Re: Counting?
Obviously, the £££ is helpful. 10p a word is not a huge amount but it soon adds up.
As I'm only second to Mick F, I think, on the prolific poster GC - especially since r2 went guest - I'll presume I'm one of the people you are talking about. Indeed, if you measure stuff by the foot (or even yard
) rather than quality I may top your worst offenders list.
I suppose it's a bit like letters to the editor, but space is not rationed so one published post does not automatically consign another's to the editorial spike or editing pencil.
We all like to think we have our own specialist subjects and you don't need to be very observant to know that mine are English criminal legal system since the time of William the Conqueror and cycling in the days of the 27 x 1 1/4" wheel. On top of that there's general knowledge, of course, which is sometimes hard to distinguish from just being a BOF.
The forum has a note at the bottom of how many zillion members we have. A surprisingly small number ever post more than a handful of posts, although I'm sure that that is where the true wisdom often comes from. On that basis, some of us at least keep the queue entertained till a gem comes along.
I'd like to think it keeps me out of harms way and I comfort myself with the knowledge that nobody is forced to read a word of it. The 'off' button has now been supplemented with the 'friends and foes' facility.
I wonder if there is a list somewhere of who has been most frequently marked as a foe.

Re: Counting?
If you think this is bad you should have a look at some of the posts on other websites.
ie:

USA version:
http://wildguzzi.com/forum/index.php?board=1.0
It's called cabin fever.

You'll never know if you don't try it.

Use this board for general non-cycling-related chat, or to introduce yourself to the forum
That's the heading to this board, so I really can't see what the problem is.

Actually, now that I think about it again, I did miss the point - keep it up.
Reading the forum is much, much better better that the typical output of most of the TV channels!! (except for 'Lark Rise to Candelford' and that masterpiece of American drama 'The West Wing')

Re: Counting?
Have you played forum cricket? You and your mates join various forums and post a thread on each and then count who got the most responses after a couple of days. My record innings from one thread is 200.

Re: Counting?
Isn't that against the law?
Posting messages on many forums at once in an effort to gather as many responses as possible?
Gaming and Lotteries Act 1990somthing?
Sounds fun though!!

Oh dear we're going to turn into cyclechat

Who wants to post a helmet cam video so we can argue about the cyclists road positioning for 2,567 posts?
There shall be only one pannier

Are you still playing?
We do get threads with no other obvious explanation.

Re: Counting?
Thread resurrection alert, Plus One!
What would happen if one earned a penny for each post?
What would happen if one were charged a penny for each post?
..
And why do some people remove the name of the person they are quoting?

How do"professional policticians " differ from the amateurs?
