Sorry - thought I had but looking back I see I hadn't made it clear.

Although it's not the right reason in this case, and alluding to your technical reasons idea, knowing how tricky the garmin cadence thingys can be, the other problem could be the cold weather making a garmin cadence transmitter go potty and show 100rpm when you're stopped!

Apropos of that - I once had a scuba diving computer that, whilst at about 20m underwater, and with full battery, and only within about 5 minutes of starting the dive, suddenly show the message Err, and then switched to SOS. Thankfully I had a watch with a depth gauge on it and I just carried on with the plan in my head. It turned out that it was faulty and had just totally thrown a wobbler. When I dive now I dive with two dive computers - but usually cos my life depends on it. On a bicycle it's not quite as much a necessity (if at all!).

If you're intending to go forward - quite a lot.

Perhaps the title is misleading - making people think 'fault'.
