Is there any light at the end of the tunnel? Will there be justice for the neglected and abused parts? Who knows?

It's not that bad!
I've seen worse!

It looks like the chain etc is clean, but is in desperate need of LUBRICATION!

Yeah it wasn't actually that bad, could've taken a pic of my MTB's chain. I don't think I've ever cleaned it since I was given the bike a year ago, and I don't think it had been cleaned before then for a long time.
The chain had some muck on it and one or two little spots of rust. I've not oiled it because I've not ridden in a month due to weather and other factors. But there was indeed a light at the end of the tunnel.

Gave it all a quick scrub and some lube and it's ready to roll again now.
Just Rob please.

There have been similar issues with some of my gear, especially if I 'nip down to the shop' on salted roads and don't look at that bike for another month.
I reduced a newish Mirage group set from deep shine to deep cloud by forgetting to wash the grit off.

Rob are you sure you have not fitted a new one  I wish mine were that clean.

How much would somebody charge for the chain cleaning service. Would there be different types as in a car wash.

Ridden?
What do you think all that muck is on the stays? :D
Bike was last cleaned in late October!

The transmission was cleaned 23rd Nov, but I've only done 75 miles since then.

Ah, Warrington ......
Do you feel you live in Lancashire or Cheshire?
When I was a kid Up North, Warrington was Lancs, as it's north of the Mersey, but I think they moved it.

We have a niece living in Golborne BTW.

Excellent stuff FW!
Saw the picture in the thread yesterday.

What about the spring?
Perhaps it's not needed.
