The big wheels are a good idea, but I think only one large wheel is necessary. You could have a small wheel at the back and the pedals just working the front. I think this would be real progress in cycle design.

I wonder if I could pick the collective toggler brain.

I've built a big dutch thing for my dad. But he's worried about it. Had a spill on his mountain bike, scared himself, and now insists he can't ride a bike unless he can touch the floor from the saddle.

Even with the quite small Havera, he still can't do this at the lowest position the seatpost gets to. What I need is something with a slacker seat tube angle, or some sort of recumbent. But where can you get one of those? The Havera is already about as slack as they come.

I know they're [cheap frame material removed], but has anyone looked at those Electra Townies before? Surely there's something old that put the pedals in a similar place?

Chris, wot feels another purchase coming on. :|

On page 295 of this thread there's a frame I used on a junk bike build. How about one of those? The ebay seller still appears to have some at about 40 quid. Seat goes super low if required thanks to the curvy top tube. Might be a bit cheaper than a new bike. Downside is it'll not take a 'ub gear.

If you can find an 'ub that's 135mm OLN, then yes

This link gives a nice picture of the Finnish entry. I think they do hub gear versions too.

My dad has been pleasantly surprised by and wants to keep this:

We'll start with a couple of pub trips, and take it from there. A pity he's got the wheels from my toggler, but I can live with that.

I love it when a plan comes together:
