Do any of you use woods valves on your roadsters (by choice, I mean, not because you happen to have them!).

Can you attach a modern track pump head to them easily? I know they're the same thread as presta but there's less of it - I wondered if there's enough for the pump head to get hold of and seal onto.

If anyoneneeds a traditional expander bolt with the conical nut at the bottom and a hex head. I had to buy a card of 6 - so I have 5 to spare. They are 8 inches long

Have done in the past, it was my favoured valve type. I'm now over to Presta, and using the exact same press-on pump I have for many many years. I'd say you'll have no probs at all.

My LBS has green, but it's a hideous pea green, like Steve's Twenty and Hubbers VeeDub camper. Can grab some for you if you're feeling Holly deserves such disgustingness

Thanks Graham but no. I've just ordered a pair of white brake cables and a white SA cable. Is this the equivalent of white stilettos? My wife wants her to have white mudguards, I'm thinking the same green as the frame. Any votes? Any news on the chrome bits Graham?

GRRRRRRRRRRR Nobody does whitewall tyres in 16" 349 unless you count Schwalbe Marathons/Bromptons with reflective bands! There's someone offering £60 for a pair of used white tyres. I think she should have white tyres really (definitely like white stillettos!)

Of course they make them in 20" for the horrible Raleigh shopper things

I'm getting the guards painted green initially as only the paint sprayer can do this (he has the paint!) plus he's only charging me a tenner and that includes media blasting (which one of them really needs). And if I don't like it I can always spray them black, white or silver myself afterwards. We'll see! If I don't like the green, I'm fancying a pearlescent white or a really high gloss silver as they ought to be chrome really.

Chrome stuff by the end of the week would be perfect as I'm hoping to be building Holly this weekend. Hopefully all the bits and pieces I'ver ordered should arrive by then.

I have some on the Rudge, to keep it looking original You can use a track pump with a lever type head, but you'll need one of those little brass presta to schraeder adaptors (only a quid or so from the LBS) otherwise the pump head will not go on far enough onto the woods valve to seal. If you've a screw-on type presta head there'll be no problem.
