Pictures of your bike(s)
Re: Pictures of your bike(s)
I wondered why a 203mm helps when packing gear when you'd think the opposite but I guess you mean with the extra weight better braking -- I can understand why disks help in general cos there's no brake calipers up where the rack attaches to the frame -- same at front -- that's one of the reasons I had to have them.
I am here. Where are you?

I think it's the weight of stuff on the back -- I tend to overload the back of mine too.Hellhound wrote: ↑3 Aug 2021, 11:24amWhich is why the larger rotor needs to be up front!TimeTraveller wrote: ↑3 Aug 2021, 11:04am I have read someplace that a 203mm disk has 30% more braking force compared to a 180mm and also about 15% more cooling.
Your choice though!

Cant run a larger one up front... Surly limit is 180mm max
Also read here https://enduro-mtb.com/en/rotor-size-myth/
That a larger rear one seems to offer better braking...and running smaller up front offers better modulation... not sure how well I can feel it loaded though.

203/180 or 180/203 is probably overkill on a tourer.
I had 203/180 on my DH bike but on my HT 180/160.The rear was only ever used to make the back end step up on tight/twisty corners.
My road bike has 140/140 and that is more than enough!Infact, for the use it gets, the rear could be smaller!
I always find the rear has a tendency to drag and/or lock up.Coming from Motor cycling/Moto-X I use the front without thinking.

Re: Pictures of your bike(s)
Hi,
I have learnt it safer to use the rear more and touch that first, front end lockups and slides are minimised.
Some rides I never use the front / push weight to the rear so I dont have to use the front brake much.
I am not talking off road extreme just heavy bikes on poor surface with a hybrid tyre not Moto X stuff.
Road bikes and motorcycle road bikes you would use the front much more.
Off road and heavily loaded / slippery surfaces.Hellhound wrote: ↑3 Aug 2021, 11:24amWhich is why the larger rotor needs to be up front!TimeTraveller wrote: ↑3 Aug 2021, 11:04am I have read someplace that a 203mm disk has 30% more braking force compared to a 180mm and also about 15% more cooling.

Hi, Welcome to the forum, I like the look of that. Are the chain-rings Biopace, I don't recognise the label ?

It’s not every day one gets an opportunity like this.

AFAIK, the only two-seater Spitfire that I've seen in the air is Grace's Spitfire (ML407).
Coming from the Lincolnshire Fens, I used to see the BBMF in the air a lot. I used to go to Duxford for the Warbirds airshows regularly but I haven't managed to get there for a few years now.
Disclaimer: Treat what I say with caution and if possible, wait for someone with more knowledge and experience to contribute.

That’s top sleuthing there. She’s a beautiful, and pretty much unique kite. It was an honour to be in her presence.freiston wrote: ↑21 Sep 2021, 12:10pmSM520!

My partner rides a Cadet from about the same year. I had the frame adapted a few years ago by Edison Cycles of Clowne to take 700c wheels and built it up as a 9sp flat bar. Still going strong. Think it was Deda tubing though.
