I won't claim it's perfect, but on the whole I love it. Even with 8 sprockets I was plagued with broken spokes, none on the Rohloff. It's big advantage is what you don't have to do, like adjust gears every few days or change chains every few months. The noise has just about gone now, (having worked in the gear dept. in an engineering works I know how expensive a "silent" Rohloff would be). I'm working on a changer for drops, which is the main thing against my setup, but to be honest there's no big probem with the bar end mounting -which easy to do, no special parts needed-except the appearance. In riding, it's not really different to derailleur gears, except that it feels more secure, with no chance of an unwanted gear change, almost like fixed.

I've loved scooters since the sixties, have you still got any?
TT,
Sadly the Li Special was the last
I have wanted to renovate another for some time now as there are so many suppliers out there in lambretta land that can provide evrything.
Went to one place in weston-Super-mare with a mate, he brought a rusty Li 150 out of the blokes garden (it was full of Lammys) and then brought a box of "everything you will need" from the guys shop. Cost all in £600
He's just sold it all shiny and new for £1600
