we can't make it rhyme all the time (poetry).

I was thinking about poetry,I occasionally write some and wondered if anyone else did.I thought that it needn't be just about cycling, though it can be if we want. What do you think.
Gulp,Suppose I'd better start,no laughing now.

Caught up in it. by, err, me

We are all caught up in it,
can we be out of it?
Could we be without it?
and if so would we miss it?
Are we stuck with it?
Or can we split ourselves from it?
Is it neccesary?or superfluos?
Prising,struggling,striving,wrything,
Trying to unburden ourselves from it,

Or is it a pointless task?
or should we even ask?

Can we leave it,drop it,
walk away and stop it.

I can certainly do that for a while, even with a smile,
Then suddenly,it re emerges
Pokes its head up where it shouldn't
Right where you think it wouldn't
not there, no it couldn't,

Unfortunatly it just did!

Ode to last Saturday

Oh no, it's here
That thing I most fear
slowly but surely, over I go
seems almost like it's in slow mo
People stare at the free show
one or two laff
at the slap of palm on the cruel path
that clipless moment

I don't do poems but I do write songs - almost the same but not quite. I used to go around pubs singing them but my nerves got the better of me.

I still write them for other people though and have some of my best ideas whilst pedaling. I also play the drums and if it's quiet and I'm on a straight road I practice some of the basic strokes on the handlebars. Sounds dangerous but it's not.

My favourite poet is Spike Milligan - if that offends serious poets then so be it.

Limericks are easy; whether they can be maintained
just on the subject of cycling is arguable.

Would you like to have a go?

The rhyme is
a
a
b
b
a

only send one line at a time.

Offering number two:-
Untitled (though could be entitled Avon Calling)

My poems are short and sometimes sweet,
made up from things I see on the street.

My main problem is the rhyming.
and keeping a cadence.

There sometimes funny and the rhyme not to hard,
like when Will Shakespeare went into a pub
and the landlord said"get out you yer bard"

There once was a man from Japan,
Who made rhymes that never would scan.
When people asked why,
He made his reply;
It because I always try to get as many words into the last line as I possibly can!!!

A cyclist who had a blue Dawes
Was aghast at his low Audax scores
Someone must be meddling
'cos I'm always a pedaling

(Please supply the last line, as I've given up :-) )

I can't think of anything to rhyme with Butler? "I'll get you" goes with Butler though!

Words to avoid, Orange, Silver, and Purple.

Hugo, I think it's the cold weather.....they're hibernating?
You may have to prod them with a sharp stick?

There was a young man from Tralee
Who got stung on the arm by a wasp
When asked if it hurt
He said "No, and I was glad that it wasn't a hornet!"

Written by Gilbert or Sullivan (Whoever wrote the words!)
